They don't understand

I like fiddling. It's something I do when I'm not doing anything else, a reason why I usually have to have my hands in my pockets, because they feel odd out in the open and not doing anything. I've always done that. It drives people crazy. It drove my family crazy when I was growing up.

I do it with ideas too, but there's something about fiddling with something mechanical to get your mind moving in different directions. I get about half of my good ideas when fiddling. The other half I get in conversations with other people. Almost never do I get good ideas just by sitting and thinking.

Think of it as an ancestral curse, or maybe a family legacy. Take your pick.
