Carl's been studying the blueprints of Cosmo's building since Crease brought in the sample motion detector, and everyone there agreed it was going to be a pain in the ass to get around. Raising the office's temperature looked like it'd be the biggest help, and while Mother said he could build something to override the normal climate control, he was already getting edgy about getting stuck in a vent or something - not that either Carl or Crease were very surprised by that.

Finding the fastest unconventional route to the boiler room is thirsty work, though, for all he thinks he's nearly got it. There's going to be a ride on top of the elevator involved no matter how he does it, from the look of things. Before he quite gets to the stairs, he runs into Mother.

"Be careful if you head down there. I think Bish is practicing."

"Practicing?"

"Two inches per second might be faster than it sounds, but it's still a lot slower than normal. That and I got him one of the answering machines, so he can get used to the weight."

"...You would do that, wouldn't you. Thanks for the warning." With that, he heads downstairs. If Mother's not going to mention the sudden disappearance of fifty dollars from his wallet, Carl's certainly not going to. Besides, it was totally worth it to have the blueprints.

He stops just outside of Liz's living room. "Is it safe to come in?"

"Just a minute," Bishop calls back. It's more like two before he gets over to the motion detector and switches it off.

"So you did take Mother up on the practicing suggestion."

"Better than sitting around doing nothing, since everyone else seems to have taken all the other work."

"Look at it this way," Carl says, once he's not facing into the fridge anymore. "They'd never believe Crease was this guy at a glance. Mother's too short, and he's already freaking out about the inside-the-building end of things, so I have to be in the boiler room. And you definitely don't want Whistler stumbling around in there."

"That's definitely true."

"Besides, you did get us into this mess."

Bishop sighs. "Thank you for reminding me, Carl."

"It's what I'm here for." He puts the pitcher of orange juice back in the fridge, and then heads back upstairs with the glass. He's got a route to finish assembling.
