[ It takes Galadriel several moments to orient herself, for at first there is only pain and discordance. She feels it keenly; heart and soul, body and mind. She is no longer in Arda marred. Her connection to those lands, strengthened over several millennia, has dwindled. Moreover, the presence of her husband is torn from her, leaving only emptiness ( Read more... )

I'm afraid that what those before me have mentioned is true. As for their intent? There is not one known that we have been informed of, although it would appear that there are various theories as to what it may be.

Such stuffs of great mystery we have here, riddled with ill portents. Plainly, these are actions of awareness; some dark force is at play and it has a purpose. With time, I believe we shall gain insight into it.

A dark force indeed but exactly how far does it stretch? For all appearances we seem to be confined to within the city, although quite how large that is? I've yet to know myself.

[ And then there's the recent new appearances ]

You say there have been no attempts to measure the perimeter, or to send out scouting parties to determine such things?

There have no doubt been those that have ventured out but nothing in quite an organised manner - it was something that I was actually planning to bring up myself, in fact.

Discovering more about the lay of the land would be my first counsel. Curious that none have undertaken such venture yet. Can you say how long have folk been taken from their homes and settled here instead?

It ranges from days to weeks - there are those, like yourself, that are still arriving and those that have been here longer than myself.

And these arrivals are always unexpected and unforeseen? [ She falls silent for a moment, deep in thought. ] I am amidst a great number of those I name friends, here, yet this is not so for others ensnared in this trap?

They are.

Not always, no. There is no one here from my world, nor from many of the others. [ As much as it may be nice having friends here she feels bad for you and yours ]

What should separate others from the rest in this matter, I wonder? Another question laid at our door we shall have to seek the answer for.

But my pardon; I have forgone manners before such puzzlement. I am Galadriel of Lothlórien.

Helen Magnus, it's a pleasure to meet you.

It could perhaps be nothing; it could be as random as it is done by choice.

The pleasure is mutual, Helen Magnus.

Perhaps. But I might be more inclined to believe that were it but a few of us here, but our number is well over half dozen. Yet, some folk are alone. There must be a reason behind such occurrences. Another matter to look into further, I think.

And one as equally hard to investigate. [ Although a dozen? That certainly had the opportunity to be something more than a simple coincidence ] Perhaps it may be more to do with those that are alone than those whom have others, or simply the worlds that we're from?

Could be. Or perhaps it is to do with some common element the people taken have been exposed to in their realms.

That may be significantly more difficult to discover, given that many of our worlds are rather different.

Difficult, perhaps, but not impossible. Our worlds may all be different indeed, but certain things remain the same; only appearances vary.
