Hooray! I've finally got a revisited draft of Hiking Boots I am pleased with enough! It has been sooooo long and it's been a block on my mind for such a time! Now it's sunday night/morning (the worst night for staying up late) and I've got a handwritten copy (written on the back of the first) that needs to be typed. Sadly, because it's late I think

I format the character's name once and then triple-click so it highlights the whole line, then copy-paste. It should then leave the cursor on the next line, ready for dialogue.
And so on, and so forth.
Its still tedious, but quite a bit better than the alternative.
