I was appalled when I read about it. I was also appalled, however, that she was not using birth control considering it was her third child. But birth control can be expensive for women and a social issue in some communities. I agree with you that placing limits on access to safe abortions is barbaric. Especially when it involves restrictions on information provided by family planning clinics. That doesn't help anyone.

Agreed. I catch alot of trash-talk for not using local doctors and pharmacies (that's local to where I grew up and work now) and instead using ones in Natchitoches (where I live.) But the reason is that my doctor sits behind me in church choir and the pharmacist goes to our church as well. There's still a horrible stigma against using birth control in our town. I am fortunate that I can go to Natchitoches for medical care, etc., but given that my hometown is so embedded in poverty, I can understand there being women who cannot. There are no doctors in that town who perform abortions. If there were, I'd like to think that things would be a little different.

That's a little scary... all I can say is... GO CHRISTIAN RIGHT!!! Argh!

What's worse is that now South Sakota and Mississippi have passed laws to ban abortions outright in an attempt to overturn Roe v. Wade. I sincerely hope the Alito doesn't allow it to be overturned... but I'm a little worried.

I used to be pro-choice, but now I'm just pro-abortion, children annoy the snot out of me! Interesting side note: in Freakanomics, Levitt traces a strong paralell in the national teen murder rate (down 50% over 5 years) to Roe vs Wade. The stark counter-intuitive decline happened 20 yrs after the ruling. NY alone went from 2245 in 90 to 596 in 03.
