Great image...

Did you see the Frasier episode a week or so ago when Frasiers' "gothic" son came to stay and the granddad accidentally ate a hash cookie? I'm not a fan of the programme usually either but found myself giggling throughout that one...

Actually I've found myself becoming a fan thanks to the new time slot too.

Yep, Frederick as a "goth" made me watch that episode specifically. As ever, it raised issues about sub-cultural-misrepresentation, where Amerigoth often seems to be simply a bored slacker attitude in eye-liner. The whole "that's so goth" thing just seemed a mile away from, well, goth. And i never understand that slightly-damp look; who wants to give the imptression of having stood under a leaking tap for too long?.

Niles thinking he was stoned and Martin being stoned was one of those moments that made me appreciate the humour of the show. It seemed almost cutting edge in the way it dealt with it so matter of factly, but also rather informedly. It's the same attitude used when they deal with sexual humour, with a lot of frank adultness and none of the Fox-style hooting.

Plus, Lilith (when she's on) is so great; and so goth. Ooh, and can't forget the recent episode with Patrick Stewart as a gay conductor with Frasier mistakenly becoming his partner.

I agree about the goth representation - that whole dragging oneself from pillar to post after being caught in a shower look is all too common and does nothing to change the general view of goths at large. Lilith is by far and away more goth (and dry in every sense).
Niles was hilarious, don't think a Frasier episode had ever made me laugh before this one. Must keep an eye out for the Patrick Stewart episode...

And now Frasier has ended, to be replaced, apparently, by Colin Fry, "the happy medium". Personally, if i went to a medium, a happy one is the last thing i'd want. How can you trust soimeone like that?Give me a "the spirits are angry, and vengeful, you will meet a tall dark stranger who will beat you to death and steal your lunch money" type one any day. Audience medium shows seem not too removed from stage hypnotism, and about as entertaining and original too.
