Sure, I read story after story about the war in Iraq and a few about the various scandals in the Bush administration, but it would be difficult to avoid that kind of news. The creepiest thing about that note is the handwriting. Neat enough that it must've taken quite a long time to write, but messy enough to look like it was scrawled by a madman.

It's nowhere near as bizarre, but have you been following the Hans Reiser case?

I've read a little about it. It's pretty interesting. Hans Reiser is a very smart and very weird guy, and his association with Sean Sturgeon, admitted murderer of eight(!), even stranger. One thing I don't understand though: I read that he sought custody of his children once his wife went missing. But I've heard various supporters, including his lawyer, I think, suggest that his wife ran off to Russia with the kids. Where are the kids?!

In any case, while it's comparatively trivial, it is a shame about the file system. I've never used it, but I hear it's good. They claim that Hans Reiser is going to sell off his company in order to gather money for legal fees and to ensure the future life of the product, but what company would want to use a file system named after an alleged murderer?
