I liked the idea of co-existance that Mal/Inara would have with Zoe/Wash (though I was never a fan of the former ship), and that it would carry on in the life Mal and Zoe might later share. I hope you continue with this :D
Thanks so much for reading and leaving fb! I think there is something interesting in that Mal 'gets' Inara at the end of Serenity (I assume) just after Zoe loses Wash - some symmetry there, that prompted me to write this fic. I will definitely write more Mal/Zoe, not sure if it will continue this particular story, but more of them together for sure!
Thank you very much!! I also have sort of a difficult time imagining Mal/Zoe transitioning from the closer-than-lovers friendship they have in the series and movie to something more - in this fic, I tried to explore what kind of circumstances might lead to such a transformation. I'm glad it worked for you! But I also love fics (and hope to write some) that just explore that friendship, the closeness that is canon, without a hint of romance. Mal/Zoe's relationship is totally compelling even without them hooking up :).
this was written really well. i enjoyed reading it! i like the idea of zoe finally getting her babies.....will you continue this?...i'd like to know that jayne didn't bleed out and mal gave zoe her babies! TTFN :D
I'd never get rid of Jayne, the big lovable lug! I'd like to see Zoe with the babies, so maybe I'll write a part two in a couple of weeks. Thanks so much for reading and leaving fb!
Oh, this fic was just adorable. I really like how you wove Zoe's ongoing desire for babies into her characterization in a believable way, i.e. without compromising her warrior tendencies. And I loved Mal's impulsive promise; it just seemed very "Mal" of him, to recognize the situation and make a decision like that, fully intending to stick to it. I also liked the way you handled Inara, giving respect to her place in Mal's life and giving Mal the space to grieve her, even in such a short fic. Well done, I really enjoyed this :).
Thanks so much for your kind words! I do think of Mal as one of those leaders (like Kirk!) who makes split-second impulsive decisions that often turn out to be inspired, turn out to be exactly the right thing. And he's also the sort to stick to promises he makes, I agree with you. I also really like Mal and Inara and any future Mal would have without her would be if she died (I think the same is true of Zoe/Wash) - for me, any good Mal story has to acknowledge Inara's huge place in his life and heart.
