So, the touchpad on my laptop doesn't work. It hadn't worked for years. I use an external USB mouse. The laser went bad in that mouse, so I bought a new one. if the touchpad doesn't work...did you try hitting control+F7? Yeah, I know. I did that. I thought the touchpad on my netbook was out, sent it for repair, nothing wrong. It was that. It also could be Alt+F7. Try the ctrl+F7 first, see if that turns it back on. If it does...well, there you go! It could be a bad driver, too. Check the device drivers, too.
