I am an optimist.

My dad got hurt leaning back in a chair.  The chair went south, and WHACK. Right across the back of the head.

He needs stiches, and probaly that's all.  My mom insisted on taking him to Rhode Isl;and Hospital, because they have a neurolougist 24/7.

Dad heard myself and mom discussing this and got pissed.

If he's well enough to yell about it I bet he's fine :) It also can't hurt to have him checked out just to be safe.

And he was back in three hours.

Everything is fine. No concussion, just a nasty cut.

Lana's psychic "Thing" must have kicked in.

He was stapled! No tape, but three staples.

And they did not need to shave a patch off his head either.

Agreed. He used to snap. Right out of the blue.

One night, one of our tow truck drivers towed in a car with three college girls. RISD or Brown or something. The car conked out on the highway and they had to stay at the station until someones mom showed up to get them.

Barret was pissed. Fucking livid, in fact.

I had just finished my shift and was on the way out. The three girls are just standing there and Barrets shouting "The fuck! Why do they have to hang out here?"

The tow truck driver (Steve, who does'nt work for us anymore.) just looks at him and says "It's cold out."

Then he points at one of the girls and says, "Her mom will be here in a half hour. Take a chill pill."

I thought Barret was going to swat somebody. This was one of his "Leave Me The Hell Alone" days.

Chicks were cute too.

This was before you showed up. For what it's worth Lana, he improved. At least a little.

And thanks. Now he's all "I must hve hurt my legs too...I must have hurt my shoulder too..."

Truth is, he has aches and pains all the time, we all do.

His mother, my grandmother, was constantly blowing things out of proportion. Every ache to her chest was a heart attack, every headache, brain cancer.

She'd call up at two in the frigging morning to complain about these things, then died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 83.

Anyway, I don't think he realizes it, but dads become a bit like her.

And thanks for the healing energy. I got him a container of stuffed cherry peppers, olives and marinated mushrooms as a get well present.
