New computer.

We have a new cashier computer at werk.

Obviously it's built for the illiterate.

Almost nothing is printed in words on the screen.  Instead there are pictures.

Instead of saying "Pump One", there is a little picture of a gas pump with the number 1.

Instead of a "Shut Off All Pumps" command, there  is a Stop Sign.

maybe it's for those that dont speak awesome english. also, are the buttons the size of a playing card deck?

It's a touch screen, and the "buttons" are about an inch across.

The cool thing is that if you hit the "stop" button it makes a noise like red alert on Star Trek.

This is to stop the tanks from pumping gas, presumably if there's a fire. It also surprises the shit out of mechanics.

And yes, it's for those who have no English.

We had to take a four hour course to learn to use this.

A ten year old could figure it out in ten minutes, but we had to take a course anyway.

Then there was a test. Guess what I scored?

An arrow pointing up.

Not an "A", not a "B-", an arrow.

Pointing up.
