He's not dead guys. He's not dead. He's gonna come back and he will look like this:

I'm not even gonna front. I wasn't a huge fan [didn't hate him at all -- just not my favorite, we all have artists like that], and while I cannot deny his HUGE impact on music and that he was a tremendous performer, his death isn't gonna make me a fan ...

... like it apparently did everyone else.

I've always enjoyed his music, and much preferred him as a cute black guy. His recent personal antics kinda weirded me out. But yeah...I don't know, I guess that tends to happen when a controversial person dies. But I totally agree with you. :(

Screw you and the horse you rode in on, LJ.

I respected him for the icon he was and had a few favorites, and I liked him - but I didn't love him...

I was wondering about the same thing. Suddenly 20 (last time I checked) out of the top 25 bestsellers in music on amazon.com were by or related to him, and I thought, hang on, he = one of the best-selling artists ever, so in fact it could be assumed that most people own many of his records. Many many people are proper fans, they probably have pretty much everything. So who are all the people going, "Oh, he's dead now, I'd better go and buy some albums then." That's sort of beyond me.

The first day I was running around screaming DEAD every few minutes but yesterday it really hit me. After watching all the videos on tv and shit I was like holy fuck..he really was a HUGE part of my childhood. I tend to forget the guys that shaped my life because..guys aren't my cup of tea..but yeah. I was pretty upset last night. My mom made fun of me. It was amusing. :)

It's starting to sink in for me too. Slowly, but it's becoming real. It sucks.

**hugs** He'll never really be gone though. We have learned this with Elvis. True legends never leave us. :)

Whatever happened to "The King has left the building?"

Joking aside, agreed.
