Some of you said you would give a shit if I uploaded music. I'm here to make liars out of you.

not all the prayers in the world could save us
a mix of break-up, anti-love, and this-relationship-sucks songs

tracklist / why I chose each song YOU CARE SO MUCH

1. elvis costello & the attractions » hand in hand
I wanted an Elvis Costello song on here, and I love this one. 'Don't ask me to apologise, I won't ask you to forgive me. If I'm gonna go down, you're gonna come with me.' Do you lot say Caahstello or Cuhstello? I say Cuhstello.

2. lesley gore » you don't own me
Remember this scene in First Wives Club? That is not why I chose this. I chose it because Lesley Gore is a badass. She's all, fuck you man, I don't even need you. Secretly however she would not even be dating a man at all.

3. the beatles » i'll follow the sun
I had a hard time choosing a Beatles song. There are several appropriate ones. When I had it narrowed down to three, I believe I was left with this one, Run for Your Life, and For No One. I forget what made me decide on I'll Follow the Sun.

4. damien rice » rootless tree
I knew I wanted this the second I decided to make the mix. The reason should be obvious.

5. the zombies » she's not there
She's Not There is one of those songs that finds its way onto pretty much every single mix I make. I love this song. I would probably sing it if I were on American Idol.

6. queen » nevermore
Prettyyyyy.

7. regina spektor » ode to divorce
I have only recently come to realise this but Regina Spektor is quite fabulous. This song is very pretty and a little bit bizarre and it gets stuck in my head.

8. led zeppelin » babe i'm gonna leave you
I am obligated to put a Led Zeppelin song on every mix. BAAAAaaabeBAAAaabeBAAabeBAAbeBAAAaabybabyi'mgonnaLEEEEaaveyouuuuu

9. alison krauss & union station » doesn't have to be this way
Holy crap for brains I love this song. It makes me a little wet. Such is the effect of Alison's voice on my vagina; I embrace it.

10. michael jackson » leave me alone
Honestly I don't think I considered anything else, not even She's Out of My Life. I needed more angry songs on here anyway.

11. the police » can't stand losing you
Again with the angry songs. Well, kind of angry, this one. 'Guess this is my last good-bye, but you don't care so I won't cry. But you'll be sorry when I'm dead, and all this guilt will be on your head.' I love that shit.

12. the cyrkle » red rubber ball
The way I feel about this song is I HAVE TO LISTEN TO IT AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY PLAY IT AGAIN. If I am making a mix, and it makes sense to put Red Rubber Ball there, it will be there.

13. the smiths » bigmouth strikes again
Morrissey once again being a lyrical genius. I'm not even gonna spoil it for you. I will warn you, though, that at certain parts, this song is a bit obnoxious due to special guest star Theodore Chipmunk.

14. the byrds » i'll feel a whole lot better
Another shoo-in.

15. fleetwood mac » storms
Okay. My favourite break-up song by the Mac is not Storms. It is Silver Springs. If I allowed myself more than one song per artist you can bet that The Dance version of Silver Springs would be on this mix. There is a very specific reason I wanted Storms. I'll let you figure it out yourself.

16. bob dylan » it ain't me babe
I lost sleep over this decision. It Ain't Me Babe or Don't Think Twice, It's All Right? Toss, turn. My conclusion is that Don't Think Twice is a better break-up song, but right now I want to listen to It Ain't Me more often. Also I think I might like It Ain't Me a little more.

17. robert plant & alison krauss » through the morning, through the night
I will admit that this is roughly the dialogue that occurred in my head: 'How about a song off Raising Sand?' - 'Sure okay.' - 'K how about Through the Morning Through the Night?' - 'Sure.'

18. cat stevens » bitterblue
See #8; I had to do this. It was actually hard to even come up with a break-up song for Cat Stevens. (Am I completely retarded?)

19. fiona apple » parting gift
And another hard decision. (It is hard to choose one break-up song by Fiona Apple because they are all break-up songs. Let's go ahead and make that joke.) It was between this, Carrion, and Get Gone, I believe. In the end I just said fuck it and went with Parting Gift.

20. simon & garfunkel » april come she will
One of the first few I knew I wanted. This song is so gorgeous and subtle and idek. I listen to it all the time.

GUYS GUYS YOU GUIIIIISE MY BFF CALLED ME WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND SHE WAS LIKE 'HANSON OCTOBER NINTH AND THEY'RE DOING THE WALK AGAIN SO MAKE SURE YOU GET THE WHOLE DAY OFF' AND I STARTED SCREAMING AND ALMOST CRYING AND I YELLED AT HER FOR TELLING ME IMPORTANT THINGS WHILE I WAS OPERATING HEAVY MACHINERY okay bye
