reporting back and itching

The felt heart/valentine project went well. The kids seemed to like it and I realized afterwards that it taught them a useful skill: how to sew on a button! Go figure.

In knitting news, I am starting to think that I am allergic to something in Berroco Remix. I'm not sure what or even how that is possible but I made myself a cowl with it and I've ( Read more... )

Any chance the yarn was put in a bin or shipped in a box with wool? Or was spun on machinery that was processing wool before hand? The fibers could have hitched a ride on your yarn and made you itchy.

I wondered about the latter question, since this yarn is made from recycled scraps from the garment industry. I washed the cowl before I wore it though, which I thought would take care of that. I only did a handwash, maybe it needs something more vigorous.

The only thing else I could think of is possibly the dye? Maybe some kind of other chemical or something that's causing a sensitivity?

This yarn is made from color-sorted garment scraps, so there is no additional dye, they say. I didn't touch it all day and my arms and chest are still itchy, so perhaps I'm allergic to something else in my life and I'm misplacing the blame. I might have to figure it out because it's driving me bananas.
