I started this blog about two years ago as a compulsory assignment. Here I am, on the cusp of graduating with my Master's in Library & Information Science, and despite my usual blythe nature about such things I have to admit, it feels really huge ( Read more... )

I have to physically be in Pittsburgh that weekend because it's a class requirement, but my ride isn't going to the ceremony and neither am I (we'd have to stay all weekend if that were the case). I find the ceremonies themselves to be pretty disappointing. You have to give them a bunch of money and just to stand up for a second. I also know that none of my family would be able to go out and see me, so I'd essentially be standing up there for no one, and I much rather just recognize it the way I want to, instead of the way people tell me to.

At some point I'll also probably write about my high school graduation in a locked post, which might clear up the negative associations I have with the whole ceremony bit.
