Warnings: None!
Effects: The warm feeling of camaraderie, a bit of nostalgia, and a pang of longing at the end.
The Doctor ran down a narrow passageway, dressed a bit
abnormally. "Amy! Rory!" he called out, nearing the end of the passageway, looking from left to right and then to the left again.
At least, until the artificial gravity suddenly disappeared. He let out a strangled yell, grabbing onto a railing. The Doctor let out a relieved sigh, before he saw
a red-haired woman and a gangly man swimming to him through the air. He struggled to grab onto the railing by his feet, so he could hold onto them both.
"Doctor, what's going on?" Amy asked quickly, looking around as she imitated the Doctor's "anchoring system".
"The artificial gravity's off," he replied quickly, glancing at Rory. "What were they doing up top?"
"Nothing, the captain's still overboard. They're all still panicking."
"Doctor, why can't you fly the ship?" She piped up, insistent.
He grimaced, and hesitated, glancing up. "Because this is a fixed point. It specifically states that Albert O'Reiley flew the ship to safety, we're not allowed to mess with--"
"But there's no one on the ship with that name," Rory stated urgently. "You checked, I checked, Amy checked--what if there's no Albert O'Reiley?"
"What then?"
The Doctor struggled with the prospect, glancing between both of them. "I'm sorry."
"What if you just say you're him?"
He looked at Rory, baffled. "Sorry, what?"
"You can just--" he looked at the Doctor, then at Amy, and back at the Doctor. "--use your psychic paper."
Amy's eyes widened. "That's right, Doctor! You said there were never any pictures of him, what if that's why?"
The Doctor paused, thinking about it, then rustled through his pockets, producing the small leather wallet.
As he detached himself, he sternly said, "You two, wait here." and floated off in the way of the stairs.
He could faintly hear the sounds of kissing, and made a bit of a face, muttering "honestly, do they breathe out of their ears?"
[ the Doctor wakes with a boisterous yawn, rubbing his eyes. the Dreamberry is positioned in such a way that it's a mega-close up of his face, so even he's a bit startled when he sees the red dot flashing. ]
... at least it's not problematic.
