The Great Top 100 Lyrics Survery
Spurred on by this travesty, and because I am a masochist, my trusted sidekick, the lovely and talented webmd, and I have decided to undertake the ambitious, well, undertaking, of compiling the top 100 lyrics, nominated and voted on by the people who actually know anything about anything - namely, you guys.
Respond to this post with your nominations. Tell your friends. Anyone who wants to have a say. In a week, webmd and I will compile your choices into a comprehensive list, and you’ll vote for your favorites then. Once the winners are selected, you’ll be able to feast your eyes on a list that doesn’t make you want to hurt something. Satisfying, no?
“Rules? Rules?!” you say? Well, yes. There are only a few, and they’re simple. Here they are.
1. Please limit the nominations to two lines in length (per song.) A few exceptions will be considered, but please consider the two of us who will have to sift through all of these. And the longer they are, the more we’ll be inclined to cheat and cut them.
2. Only one nomination per person per song. Yes, we all think our favorite songs is the best thing evarrrr from start to finish, but pick your favorite one or two lines and submit that. Besides, the line you don’t wind up picking, someone else might. ;)
3. There is no limit on the number of nominations you can make.
4. Please include the artist and song title with each nomination.
5. Songs from any genre can be nominated. When the voting begins, we won’t list the artist or song title to help remove any bias people might have.
6. You can submit nominations from now until Wednesday, April 26, 2006, 5:00 pm EST. (Official, eh?)
