Today has been super busy. I went yesterday to finish off Christmas shopping that will no way arrive on time. Geesh! I am sending some small things with Melissa to mail from the states. She is going home for Christmas. At least those have a fighting chance for an on time arrival, I hope.

Some people are not too happy about this.

What are your thoughts on the whole Taiwan issue?

Yeah, RIGHT! I KNOW! I do get to talk about some of these issues with my students when they bring them up. Those lead to amazing conversations, especially when we are in a big group or it is during class. I am glad they feel comfortable in my classroom to express their feelings on issues. Although, I just wish I felt comfortable expressing mine. Every time I think about it, I see a red flag and remember, wait, wait, think, Nina, think. One of the first times we were doing debates we had a couple heated topics. The students made the topics that were something like: Should China welcome Japan? and should T. be a part of the one China p. It got HOT!!!! It was really great. I was amazed to hear some of them speak. Some of them for the first time for so long in class in front of a group. The passion really had a strong effect on both sides.

I have so say I am surprised to read that question, as it is not a very popular spoken topic here, but I am a little leary of having my thoughts expressed on that issue via my personal PC while still in the PRC. About a month ago I had my Internet turned off because I was downloading too much from a foreign website. Big brother is everywhere! I had to promise not to download too much. I still yet to have been given an exact figure as what too much is exactly. I will say that I do not think that the one China policy is something that can endure a great yearn for independence, but then you all ready knew that anyway. Sorry I am not at liberty to discuss it more.
