I just learned about an authentic Chinese cult last night called the Eastern Lightning. Have you heard of them? Supposedly they get new believers in Christianity to follow them because they are not so secure in their own beliefs. It has been a crazy week. Classes started on Monday and so far so good. I think I am really going to like the sophomore oral class that I picked up for Margaret. They are so spunky and full of energy. My Phd. students are eager, but not quite as much as the sophomores, as most all already have jobs, spouses, and some even a child. After a FUN night of conversation, cocktails, dancing, and laughing, I came home to realize that I did not, DO NOT need cigarettes like the girl I saw chain smoking tonight, or any other person that smokes. My 2 cents for any newbies, ladies if you can at all help it, please be good to yourself and those around you do not make your first week smoke free the same week you expect PMS. I just got off the phone with Ms. Li the head of foreign affairs at the university and she offered me an extra position to teach a writing class. Today is the last day of Spring Festival. Today is called the Lantern Festival or Yuanxiao, meaning last night.
