REST IN PEACE

Steve Irwin died today from a sting-ray barb through his chest.

He was a true champion teaching not only Australia, but the world about animal conservation.

it is really sad. he did do some great things in terms of conservation and promoting australia overseas. i can't help thinking though - if you poke dangerous animals in the eyes for long enough, it's only a matter of time.......

The bit that is weird is the fact that he was stung by a sting-ray that:

1. Are normally very dosile animals
2. That Steve Irwin did not provoke (he was in the water and the sting-ray swam past him and then stung him because he felt threatened)
