about a month ago, my boyfriend and i decided to stop having sex. i haven't had my period yet this month -- it usually comes at the beginning, but i'm not that regular to begin with

First Response is a good test and it works 5 days before your missed period. It's a couple bucks more than just an EPT or whatever but it's just as accurate (I think it's 99.9 like most the others)
Good luck -- know that everyone in the community is around to support you no matter what your choice!
i was looking for other signs i could be pregnant -- i'm pretty bad about social anxiety, and the last thing i want to do is walk into a store and buy a test.
but thank you very much for your encouraging words. i would not be able to have a baby right now -- i wouldn't tell anyone, not even my friends or my boyfriend. this is something i think would be my decision, and i'd rather go it completely alone than change my family's perception of me.
well, i mean it. LJ is a great way to get support from people who've been there without changing the perception of people who know you or having to give up your anonymity.
I had no idea I was pregnant. My period was about a week late when I found out, and I should have probably done a test even earlier than that (because I'm very regular), but never did because I just really didn't think I was pregnant. Everyone asked me, "Do you feel pregnant?"... and honestly I felt completely normal. No morning sickness. I think perhaps I may have peed more often, but that could have just been me over-analyzing the situation. You really should take a test. No matter how long you put it off, the results will still be the same, either negative or positive. And if it's negative, you will definitely rest easier knowing.
Your nipples may get sensitive, you may feel bloating, perhaps some morning sickness, which can happen anytime during the day, not just the morning, you may have an extremely light period (lasting from 1 to 3 days, with little blood), and such. Better to ask in amipregnant. They know more.
I suggest getting a test done. If you go to a planned parenthood, they have a sliding scale, so it may be cheaper. It is always best to use your first pee of the day because that carries the most pregnancy horomones.
PS: alot of girls go to planned parenthood for tests and they keep it confidential, so only you and the tester needs to know. May be an ease on your social anxiety.
The first time I was pregnant, in college, I had no idea. None. I was three weeks late but didn't realize it until I went to the doctor and they asked when my last period was.
A test is really the only way to know for sure. Many of the pregnancy signs mimic the signs that your period is coming.
Some women "just know", many don't.
I hope things work out okay and that your period comes soon.

You can buy tests online (pretty cheap, too!), though it'll take them a few days to come...
