Hello. I just turned 21, and I had a surgical first-trimester abortion on January 7 at the Hope Clinic in Granite City, Illinois ( Read more... )

watched the videos. They can spout some seriously righteous crap. The first thing I thought of was "These people are full of SHIT."

Wow - those videos almost made me cry. No one should talk to their elders like that. I was born and raised to RESPECT MY ELDERS and you damn well better beleive that I would never say stuff like that to an older person. This woman does not seem to understand that, does she? If that was my grandpa, escorting ME into the clinic, I would have turned around and smacked her. I don't care if she is, technically, an "elder." She acts like a 13 year-old. I don't care if it would be assault or not, but NOBDOY says that to MY grandpa ( ... )

That's how I felt. I'm still being eaten alive with the anger that that horrible woman even felt entitled to SPEAK to my grandfather, and I'm seeing about some anger management therapy before I give myself an ulcer or hurt someone. :/

And sure, share anything. I made everything public for a reason, and I'll probably be opening up a few more abortion-related journal entries as well. Most of the time my journal is totally closed because I make enemies in dot_pet_snark and stupidpetowners, but this is bigger than them.

Thanks for sharing your story :) That video is really telling. They deserve to have their "kindness" shown on the net.

However, I am seriously angry all the time at the protestor who had the nerve to speak rudely to my grandfather, That rage may be in part due to the pregnancy hormones. I would get into rages like that my first tri of pregnancy - the hormones can blow things up to unmanageable proportions. Meantime, try not to let it get to you. Those people are crazy and their words don't deserve your attention. My husband and I have been called nazis, terrorists, etc... but who cares what these morons think? IMO it's a badge of honor to be disrespected by them ( ... )

Nope, no uncertainty here, just a little guilt/self-hatred after taking some of the anti-choice slander to heart. I'm feeling much better, ironically after seeing the protestors outside the clinic and realizing that that guilt is what they're going for and I shouldn't buy into it.

I'd love to be what the protestors call a "deathscort", but I live 3 hours from the clinic I went to, and I don't think the Columbia abortion clinic needs escorts (the protestors here seem pretty low-key). If I move back to St. Louis, though, you bet I'll be an escort! :)
