I tried out that meme where you put your music player on random and write a drabble while the first song is playing. In the interest of jump-starting my muse, I might be doing more of these. Who knows what fandom(s) might come out to play. This one's for Bones.

You make me feel at home somehow, right now
That's why I love this town
Maybe it's the scotch still warming him from the inside out, or the smell of the coffee she'd brought him. Or maybe it's the lights of the Washington Monument shimmering on the pool stretched out in front of them.
But whatever it is, it's suddenly very important that she understands how much - just how much - he loves this. This city, this country, this job. All of this. He sways a little closer to her on the step, and it doesn't matter that Boston's four hundred miles away - he still would have rounded every damn one of those Tea Partiers up. He's that good. He needs her to know that.
And now she's talking in her squinty speak, big long words that make his head swim more than usual (though the head swimming, that's either the scotch or her perfume wafting to him on the slight breeze, he's not sure which), and he finally stops trying to understand the words and just listens to her voice.
He could sleep to her voice, he realizes, and suddenly that seems like the best idea in the world. He leans towards her - she's warm and soft and everything. But then she's laughing, and he hasn't been listening to her words, but he definitely hears laughter and happy, and he grins broadly, losing himself in cerulean eyes. “Good for you.”
Now there's still scotch and coffee, lights and her smell. He laughs, too, and his forehead finally finds her shoulder, resting there a moment.
Oh, yes, he loves this. This city, this country...All of this.
