i say be open to any call you get so that you can be certain god is leading you. if you close the date, maybe god isn't done working in the church issuing to get you there yet.
I'd say don't have a cutoff date unless you want to set one for yourself, i.e. after this date I wouldn't want to move because I wouldn't have time to get settled and prepare for the school year. Other than that, though, don't worry too much about it. I know pastors who have left congregations for new calls at very odd times (one left on Palm Sunday, of all times). Don't shut them out until you're ready to say that you'll stay where you are another year. Hope that helps!
thanks. i'm just a person who likes to know what is coming next. there is a lot of uncertainty in my life right now and i feel like i would at least be able to get some sort of balance if i at least know where i'll be. waiting is just so hard!
