My, My . . . how language has changed

Grrr'l has been very mobile lately and has gotten into the habit of pulling books off the bookshelf in her bedroom.  I have a collection of comic strip collections in there with the rest of the childrens books.  B.C, Wee Pals, Chas Adamms, and of course Peanuts.  Many of these were my parents before they were mine.  The other day, Grrr'l pulled out ( Read more... )

Rubbers were already slang for condoms then I believe.

It's not than language has changed, it's that children have gotten out of the habit of wearing rain boots.

True, but nowadays we tend to call then rain boots or galoshes. I don't believe I've heard the term "rubbers" in that context since the '70's.
