Katy's song is nothing about gay/lesbian rights...it's just like ME...drunk and in the mood to kiss/make out with anyone present...including girls. The great thing about kissing girls is you know it won't lead to getting in your pants, but you can still have all the fun and flirtation leading up to the would be.

Cassandra used to be my kissing partner when we got trashed at parties...now we're both in serious relationships and sing this song to each other instead when we're drinking.

Of course not! Because to 99% of straight men, two girls kissing is hot. But to 99% of straight everybody, two guys kissing is gross.

People have so much to say about this! I agree with you, Mike... when I first heard of this song and the big deal people were making about it I immediately thought of Jill Sobule. I don't remember people making a big deal back then, though.

I'm glad you mentioned the obvious sexism surrounding this song, because I could go on about that for hours. That's what happens when you go to a women's college, I suppose.

I also want to add that I know plenty of guys that don't find girls kissing to be "hot" (especially if it's their girlfriend)... I think that preference varies on a personal level. I also think--and I'm just speculating here-- that there are a lot of men out there that are afraid to go against the stereotype and say that two girls together doesn't do much for them. That would just be completely demasculinizing. Almost as bad as crying.
