So, am I wrong to be surprised that the Girlchild can make herself a PB&J sandwich? She said she was hungry, said what she wanted and then said she wanted to make it herself. Got the stool so she could reach the counter, got all the stuff she needed and proceeded to make herself the sandwich. And did a good job, got everything spread out nicely

:) Today, it's PB&J. Tomorrow it's a request for a cell phone, then keys to your car and finally a promise to call every week when she moves out. They grow up so fast, but believe me, you'll always remember this PB&J moment. :)

I have a picture somewhere of my sister (with a really bad perm) at about the same age determinedly making her own PB&J sandwich. There's just something about the power of PB&J perhaps?

(I have no idea what my parents were thinking when they inflicted the perm on her.)
