Character Information:
Character Name: Obi-Wan Kenobi
Age: 25
Canon: Star Wars
Appearance: Obi-Wan comes to a not-so-staggering (when you put him next to people like Qui-Gon and Anakin, especially!) height of 5'10". He is thin, but strong and well-built. Blue eyed with auburn hair, he keeps his hairstyle cropped short save for a ponytail in the back and a long braid that hangs behind his right ear. He is rarely seen out of the Jedi apparel: a tan tunic and a dark brown robe that could probably fit two or three Obi-Wans.

Personality: Bold yet reserved, Obi-Wan is a young man who possesses wisdom that is beyond his years. While mindful of his place most times, he has been known to speak out and give excellent advice, even to his elders.
Getting straight to the heart of the matter would be to say that Obi-Wan is a very kind-hearted individual with a strong sense of justice. His driving force to be a Jedi is to make the galaxy a better place, even if it's only one small step at a time. Having been raised in the Jedi Temple, he was sheltered from much of the world's cruelty and struggled with the injustices he saw when he first left the Temple. Even while he's since come to accept the fact that you cannot help everyone, he still does not like to see others suffer and if it's possible for him to help, he will try. Loyal and dedicated, Obi-Wan makes friends easily and does his best to keep them. His friendships are important to him and he's gone well out of his way to aid his friends before, even if it wasn't perhaps the wisest decision on his part. Though he later came to regret the decision, Obi-Wan once temporarily left the Order to fight a war on Melida/Daan, both because he couldn't stand to see such a senseless war tearing a planet apart and because he'd bonded and become friends with the Young. For the most part, Obi-Wan has excellent instincts and a strong moral compass, but at times, both things can lead him headlong into trouble -- which he has quite the knack for getting into -- in the attempt to do the right thing.
In the beginning, he was someone often overlooked, both by his peers and his elders. He is talented to be sure, but it tended to be overshadowed by his aggression and anger. He frequently got into fights-- namely with one Bruck Chun. It was these traits that nearly cost him a future as a Jedi. He proved himself worthy, nevertheless, and has come a long way since his time as an initiate. But still anger remains one of his biggest weaknesses, alongside impatience and fear. Not only does Obi-Wan himself cite this many times in the Jedi Apprentice novels, but it's visible in his actions. He uses the mark sai tok (that is, cutting the body entirely in two halves and something that is considered barbaric and an act of furious emotions by the Jedi) on Darth Maul in his anger over Qui-Gon's murder. In general, Obi-Wan becomes agitated and frustrated easily, but he is true to his training and has grown better at controlling or hiding it. Granted, that doesn't always mean he does. He earns himself the name "impatient young man" from a man in one of the books and he is less than subtle about his irritations in The Phantom Menace. Enough to have Qui-Gon believe he's being disrespectful.
Obi-Wan is of a practical nature and very fond of the rules. To boot, he is also incredibly stubborn and headstrong. This often leads him to butting heads with others, especially his Master, Qui-Gon Jinn. His Master is widely regarded as a maverick among Jedi and for the rule-following Obi-Wan, that leads to a great deal of frustration. He is often protesting to and arguing with Qui-Gon's decisions, though such arguments just as often tend to get him nowhere. His outspokenness is not to be mistaken for disrespect, however. His Master is arguably one of the most important people in Obi-Wan's life and the one he holds in the highest regard, both as a person and as a Jedi. He later reflects on him being "perhaps the greatest Jedi alive, a commanding presence at Council, a strong and brave warrior who refused to be intimidated by even the most daunting challenge, and a good and kind man." He is quite fond of his Master, though even this has its fall-backs. Despite his overall selfless nature, Obi-Wan does have moments of selfishness-- particularly in that he likes to monopolize on Qui-Gon's attention. He has become jealous and agitated when Qui-Gon turns his attention to others-- Bant Eerin and Anakin Skywalker being excellent examples. He once snapped at Bant out of jealousy, claiming she was trying to take his place as Qui-Gon's Padawan, and was stung by Qui-Gon's wish to take Anakin as his Padawan in the Council meeting. To Obi-Wan's credit, he acknowledges that such feelings are wrong and later apologizes for them.
In spite of his care to follow the rules, he truly does take after Qui-Gon in some ways, with Yoda even noting his defiance. While not nearly as radical as Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan will still insist upon something, especially if it is important to him and even if everyone else disagrees.
Like anyone else, he has flaws. At times, he even contradicts himself. Calm and collected as a Jedi should be, he is a reliable and sensible ally, and in the face of danger, he functions efficiently and usually without much of a falter. However, he is also at a point in his life where he is still reckless and impulsive at times, getting swept away by his own stubborness or impatience. Obi-Wan is far from perfect, nor does he try to be, and believes wholeheartedly that "we are not saints, we are seekers"-- something Qui-Gon has told him many times. On the whole, however, his selflessness, courage, and level-headedness shines through. During the mess on Bandomeer, he and Qui-Gon were trapped in a mine set to blow up the planet. Earlier, Obi-Wan had been captured and put in a collar that would self-destruct if he tried to leave the mines. Obi-Wan was wholly prepared to press himself against the door and use himself as a human bomb to open the door so Qui-Gon could escape. He is also modest, denying any attempts to refer to him as a hero or anything else of the sort. While confident in his abilities, he doesn't boast. If nothing else, he is grounded and focused on bettering his weaknesses, expressing inward disappointment when he fails.
Lastly, but certainly not least, Obi-Wan is someone with a very strong will, a bright spirit, and a thirst for knowledge. Even in the bleakest of situations, he can spout off a cheerful remark or a cheesy joke. ("You were right about one thing, Master. The negotiations were short.") He's also notorious for terrible puns that will make you want to slap your forehead. While it's true that his practical nature can often times lend itself to cynicism, Obi-Wan is optimistic and determined, refusing to go down without a fight. At one point in The Hidden Past novel, when he's about to undergo a memory wipe, his will to keep his memories allows him to put Force barriers around his mind to block out the memory wipe. He tries to be encouraging and a shoulder to lean on for others as well. Mind, he certainly isn't without sarcasm either. Just as much as he jokes and makes cheerful comments, he also frequently makes sarcastic remarks and irritable quips. The only thing you'll hear more than jokes or sarcasm is his ability to constantly ask questions. He is forever curious about the world around him and very eager to learn.
Background:
"I think I'd better set you straight," Obi-Wan said. "First of all, it wasn't a great battle. The Hutt just picked me up and strangled me until I passed out. I'm no hero." Canon point: During The Phantom Menace, prior to the duel with Darth Maul. I'd like to take Obi-Wan from this canon point mainly because I find him to be interesting and fun to play while he's still a Padawan and I'd like for him to have all of the development he gets in the Jedi Apprentice novels and most of the movie. That isn't to say his older selves aren't fun, too-- I love them all equally! But at this point, Obi-Wan hasn't lost very much yet. After Qui-Gon's death and taking Anakin under his wing, he becomes more cautious, stern, develops a hatred for flying, and so forth. Before his death, he's still bold, a little bit reckless, and... well, he's still a bit of a nag, but not quite as bad as he is when he's older.
Special Abilities: Obi-Wan is a Jedi and Force-sensitive, which indeed means he can use the Force. Below are the following abilities I know him to have with his current training:
▫ Telekinesis→ He has displayed skill in moving objects through the Force, such as summoning his Master's lightsaber to his hand, opening some doors, and removing some minor obstacles.
▫ Force sense (reflexes, feeling disturbances, etc.)→ Perhaps the most integral part to a Jedi is their ability to feel and perceive the world around them. Obi-Wan is no exception. He lacks the connection to the Living Force his Master has, but he's quite in tune with ripples and disturbances through the Force. He's noted for having excellent instincts and reflexes.
▫ Enhancing physical capabilities (endurance, agility, acrobatics, etc.)→ He has always been a great fighter and as the years have passed, he has begun to favor enhancing his physical capabilities with the Force. Often, he pulls off a great deal of otherwise impossible acrobatics in his fights, and fuels his endurance and agility with the Force.
▫ Force push→ He possesses a strong Force push-- enough to launch back droids and knock them out of commission.
▫ Mind trick / Animal friendship→ Even as a twelve year old boy, Obi-Wan has always had skill with this particular ability, able to mind trick several guards. He can also use this same ability to befriend creatures.
▫ Minor healing→ Every Jedi is taught to respect pain as a signal their body is sending them, then to ask it to begin healing. The Force allows for one to quicken the healing process and Obi-Wan can do this as well, but that's about the extent of his healing abilities.
▫ Force speed→ Basically moving at an increased speed so that the world slows down around the Force user and allows them to sprint at heightened speeds. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon both use this ability to escape the destroyers on the Trade Federation ship.
He is also a incredibly skilled with a lightsaber (favoring the Ataru form and physical combat), a great pilot, and has trained in hand-to-hand combat. There are also other Force abilities that wiki cites him as having (like deflection and repulse), but I haven't really seen him use them as a Padawan, so we'll just say he's training in them.
Sect: Jedi
Job: None yet! But he'll definitely want to be a Jedi Guardian.
Samples:
First Person: [There's no visual to go along with the irritated voice. It's just straight to the point with this guy.] Is there a particular reason why I woke up in Coruscant with nothing but my skivvies when I should be in Naboo on a mission?
[On the eve of battle, no doubt! They were just discussing battle tactics, and then suddenly... here he is. This is really horrid timing and he's not at all pleased, but he's doing his best to keep his impatience out of his voice.]
This is Obi-Wan Kenobi. It's important that I get into contact with either the Jedi Council or my Master, Qui-Gon Jinn, if possible. If anyone can patch me through to either or provide transport, I would be grateful.
Third Person: Up bright and early as always (if not earlier than usual), Obi-Wan had attempted to creep out and make himself some breakfast before Qui-Gon awoke. He should have known better than to expect this plan to be a success, for the other Jedi already waited in the main area of their quarters. The man seemed to believe he could function on little to no sleep or food, and even after all these years, Obi-Wan still attempted to best that belief of his. It often bled into Obi-Wan also going without, and in his early years of apprenticeship, that exhausted him. Now, it tended to be a quiet inside joke and a friendly challenge between the two. He'd gotten much better about surviving without either of those necessities since then, after all; Jedi sacrifice many things to do what they do.
"You're awake. Good. We could use the headstart," Qui-Gon said, seated on the floor with his eyes closed; he'd obviously been meditating.
Obi-Wan frowned, his stomach growling in protest. So much for sneaking past him. "There's still time, Master. No need to rush," he tried, eying the small kitchen area hopefully. He had cooked dinner the night before and intended to use the remaining resources to make a quick meal in the morning.
"We are being counted on to arrive in a timely manner. Things happen unexpectedly, Obi-Wan, and taking advantage of even a few minutes can mean the difference between disaster and a safe arrival. Pack the food for later. You can eat after we attend the meeting."
Well, he couldn't really argue with that logic; Qui-Gon was good at that, blast him.
"Yes, Master," Obi-Wan agreed, withholding his disappointment-- then his tone became more humorous and light-hearted. "But should my stomach make any noises that might embarrass the both of us during that meeting, I hope you'll remember that you could have prevented it."
He caught the vague but amused upturn of Qui-Gon's lips, but the other man said nothing further on the matter. Promptly, Obi-Wan made his way back to his room to dress and prepare for their leave. He had a feeling it was going to be long day-- and his intuition seldom failed him.
Anything Else: Thanks for reading! And I apologize for my tl;dr-ing... ahem.
