Character info
Series/Fandom: Star Wars
Character's Name: Obi-Wan Kenobi
Character's Sex: Male
Character's Age: 25
Canon point: During the Battle of Naboo, before the duel with Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace.

Abilities: Obi-Wan is a Jedi, a peacekeeper and negotiator first, and a warrior second. He uses a lightsaber, a blade composed purely of energy, as his primary form of combat and with incredible skill. The lightsaber itself is capable of cleaving through walls of steel and can deflect lasers and blaster beams. For the sake of being fair, however, the lightsaber will have been capped so that it functions more like an electric sword; it can be blocked by ordinary means. He utilizes the Ataru form when dueling with a lightsaber, taking after his Master in that respect. This form utilizes quick and powerful attacks, as well as acrobatic feats in battle.

Outside of lightsaber combat, Obi-Wan is also a great pilot, having gained the reputation for being one of the best in the Jedi Order, even as a Padawan. He's also been trained extensively in hand-to-hand combat and can hold his own without a lightsaber. Lastly, he's capable of using a blaster, though he rarely finds the need to.

What makes a Jedi different from a normal person is their connection with the Force; from a very young age (even infancy at times), they dedicate their lives to understanding and studying the workings of the Force. There are a great many things a person can do through the Force and Obi-Wan is skilled in various facets.

∙ TELEKINESIS; It's exactly as it sounds. The use of the Force is most often associated with telekinesis and Obi-Wan is adept with this skill. He's been seen drawing a lightsaber to hand and performing acrobatic feets (such as leaping huge distances) that would otherwise be impossible. He also uses this ability to further fuel his endurance and agility. As other extensions of telekinesis, Obi-Wan is also skilled with Force Pull (drawing an object closer to oneself) and Force Push (concentrating the telekinetic energy to one point to release a blast of energy). Though not as adept with it as he is in his later years, Obi-Wan is still, nevertheless, capable of unleashing a rather powerful Force Push.

∙ FORCE SENSE; This ability is basic knowledge for any Jedi, and Obi-Wan is no exception. It heightens a Jedi's senses and allows them to truly feel the world around them. Through Force Sense, a Jedi acquires incredible reflexes, which tends to be an unconscious ability regardless. This ability is often used to sense danger and allows the user to feel disturbances in the force, whether it's death (especially if it's a loved one or a great many happened all at once) or a very powerful presence. Force Sense is also a capable of helping a Jedi see past barriers and darkness, as well as discerning the location of someone hiding. Obi-Wan, of course, is also capable of this, though probably not to the extent of a Master.

∙ MIND TRICK; While Obi-Wan has been trained in persuasion and coercion of sentient creatures, it will be largely useless in this setting. He'd probably not use it much, but in the event that he does try, it will only be used with mun permission and even then, will only work like a suggestion. He's also capable of using this ability to tame animals and befriend them. Although, as stated before, he's probably not as skilled with it as he is in the future, he would probably have considerable sway on the creature's mind if he attempted it. On the flip side, Obi-Wan himself has a very strong and resilient mind. When he was younger, he was able to resist having his memory wiped out by placing Force barriers around his mind. The Wiki cited this as something only a Jedi Master should be able to achieve, and that speaks volume in and of itself.
Strengths: His strengths lie especially in his physical endurance and agility, as well as his telekinetic (and as an extension, acrobatic) ability. Paopu-flavored ice cream also gives him great power! 8|
Weaknesses: Though very skilled in his own right, he still has much to learn and master. The Ataru form also gives little in the way of defense and could potentially make it easier to gain the upper hand.

Background: There is no ignorance, only knowledge.

Appearance: [Full Body] [Face]

Personality: Bold yet soft-spoken, Obi-Wan is a young man who possesses wisdom that is beyond his years. While mindful of his place, he has been known to give excellent advice, even to his elders.

He is selfless and modest, a model Jedi in that respect alone. While confident in his abilities, he's not over-confident and will not boast about success. Others' needs always come before his own; he is willing to lay his life on the line if it means someone else can live on. Perhaps the most blatant example of this was a moment within The Dark Rival novel, when Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan were trapped in a mine that was about to blow. Earlier, Obi-Wan had been captured and put in a collar that would self-destruct if he tried to leave the mine. Obi-Wan was wholly prepared to press himself against the door and use himself as a human bomb to open the door so Qui-Gon could escape, in spite of the other's constant protests.

Calm and collected as a Jedi should be, Obi-Wan is well-practiced at understanding his emotions and keeping them at bay, but hardly perfect. He is a reliable and sensible ally, to be certain; he does his best to adhere to the orthodox Jedi teachings as well as to the teachings of his Master, Qui-Gon Jinn, who often was regarded as a maverick among Jedi. In the face of danger, he functions efficiently and usually without much of a falter. While traveling underwater in a tribubble bongo (a submarine designed by Gungans), the power died and put them in darkness briefly. Once the power was restored, the light revealed a gigantic fish with the intent to eat them alive; while Jar Jar began panicking, Obi-Wan and his Master remained calm and even nonchalant with Obi-Wan coolly piloting the submarine out of its reach. Even as a younger fellow in the Jedi Apprentice novels, he displayed an exceptional ability to keep a level head in otherwise hopeless circumstances, which ended up saving his life as well as the lives of others. That ability has only strengthened now.

By the same token, he's still learning and having a grasp on his emotions is a work in progress. There are moments of anger and anxiety that are apparent in him. In fact, his anger and impatience has been cited to be his greatest weakness as both an initiate and a Padawan. He openly questions Qui-Gon on multiple occasions, uneasy with some of his decisions and became enraged when Darth Maul ran Qui-Gon through with his lightsaber. As an extension of this, Obi-Wan has shown to be fairly cynical, also evident in the aforementioned examples. He doesn't seem very keen on Anakin right off, not entirely convinced of his usefulness or the fact that he would be able to successfully train as a Jedi due to his emotional attatchments. He does set aside these views and tends to later apologize for them. Oftentimes, Obi-Wan will not hesitate to put his opinions out there, but he does so without contempt and respects the other person's views unless they bring harm.

He truly does take after Qui-Gon in some ways, with Yoda even noting his defiance. While not as radical as Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan will still insist upon something, especially if it is important to him and even if everyone else disagrees. He has been noted for being headstrong many times.

Nevertheless, it's also these traits that lend themselves to Obi-Wan's steadfast nature and loyalty. Dedicated to the last, he possesses a strong moral compass and stays committed to it. His strong sense of duty and honor lends itself often to making good judgments and he has demonstrated many times his loyalty to not only his master and to the Jedi, but to doing what he feels is best for people in general. He, after all, stayed behind (and temporarily left the Order) to help the children during the civil war on Melida/Daan.

In spite of the all seriousness that is often associated with being a Jedi, there is a light-hearted side often apparent in the youthful Obi-Wan. He is quite audacious, somewhat lacking in the caution and care that is later demonstrated by his older self. Obi-Wan also possesses quite the dry humor, certainly not beyond making small jokes or issuing a little sarcasm here and there. A certain liveliness comes through even in the most dire of situations, when he can sound almost cheerful about things. ("I need a high power, and that would injure you," [Qui-Gon] said. "Or behead me," Obi-Wan pointed out cheerfully.) Or even when explaining the situation to Jar Jar near the beginning of Phantom Menace: ("If they find us, they will crush us, grind us into TINY pieces and BLAST us into oblivion!")
Strengths: Obi-Wan is very wise for a man his age and has a fine judgment. His compassion and selflessness is also a very big strength of his, and are often very pronounced pieces of his personality.
Weaknesses: Obi-Wan still struggles emotionally, unable to completely quell his anxiety or anger when particularly bothered. He's also still reckless and headstrong, very bold, and it can and has gotten him into trouble.

[Though standing quite calm, one can see the unnerved and concerned thought behind the eyes of the young man who has just appeared on the feed. He looks tired, but he bows his head politely in greeting.]

Hello there. It's become apparent to me that I am among the many new arrivals here. ...I felt a very powerful disturbance in the Force before I awoke in this place-- it was unlike anything I've ever felt before. Sten, the moogle that greeted me, told me that no one is certain of the source, though... Is all of that accurate so far?

[He comes to an abrupt pause, looking very weary. Even more than he had before. It's almost as if he's falling ill; he brings a hand to his chest, taking a moment to breath in deeply.]

--Forgive me. [He's not felt so much loss before. Entire worlds, gone in a matter of moments in such an unnatural way. It's a terrible thought and it makes his heart contract in pain, just thinking about all the lives that have suddenly vanished. There's a reason for everything, but this--... It doesn't feel like the path the Force intended. So much of it affects him greatly, but he makes a point to recover quickly.] I was also told there may be a way to save these worlds and that many of you have been here for a lot longer. If anyone who is listening wouldn't mind answering some of my questions, I would appreciate it.

Master Qui-Gon, Queen Amidala-- anyone. If you're out there, please contact me.

[The feed clicks off.]

RP Sample: Swamp or not, the air was heavy during the strategy meeting and it made Obi-Wan a little restless. It was impossible not to feel the rumbling disturbance in the Force-- how it rippled with fervor and malice. Was it this battle? Surely not... He'd been in several battles before and none of them equated to this level of unease. Then again, there was a Sith involved-- but could they truly have that much influence? Obi-Wan felt a hand on his shoulder, drawing him from his thoughts. Qui-Gon didn't look at him, but he stood like a pillar of strength, pouring forth reassurance into him.

"Don't you feel it, Master?" Obi-Wan prompted, staring up at him.

"I feel it. Don't let it cloud your mind from what's happening now."

"But Master--"

Qui-Gon cut him off with a look. It was stern, but Obi-Wan could sense the concern behind his eyes. That was all it took. Neither of them knew what this threat was nor if they could stop it, but they had to try. It was their duty. Together, they went to warn the Queen, but before they could reach her, they slammed to a stop. They may as well have walked into an invisible wall for all the power and force that came with that Dark feeling they both sensed. "Your highness!" Qui-Gon called, his urgency bringing her to a stop.

There was no time. A stabbing sensation in the back of his mind was the only warning Obi-Wan got. He drew his lightsaber with the intent to combat with darkness, only barely having the opportunity before the sky plunged into blackness. The clouds swirled together, thunder crackling and throwing down sparks of lightning to go with it. People were either staring in horror up at the darkness that rained down upon them or they began panicking. From the ground, shadow creatures with cruel yellow eyes emerged, twitching in the most unnatural of ways. They were upon people in no time and there were so many of them. He and Qui-Gon burst forward, cloaks billowing from the power behind their movements and began cleaving into the strange monsters. Blaster guns fired wildly through the air and frightened cries joined them. No matter how many of them Obi-Wan struck down, twice as many took its place. He refused to stop, trying to free as many people as he could. He whirled and spun and slashed through crowds of shadow; he would keep going until he could go no longer.

He lunged forward to drive the lightsaber down upon another group of the creatures, but something tangled around his leg and threw him against the ground. His grip around the hilt kept tight, Obi-Wan turned to see what held him. A gaping vortex of Darkness with tendrils of shadow lashing out swung out to grasp his other leg, then wrap around his waist. Try as he might to sever the branches of shadow, his lightsaber went right through as if he were slicing air. Soon, his arms were restricted, his lightsaber deactivated and he could barely wriggle. The shadows wrapped around his throat, squeezing the breath out of him.

"Obi-Wan!"

'Master Qui-Gon?' his mind whispered. Obi-Wan tried to look, but his eyes rolled back into his head and he was greeted instead with darkness.

- - -

With a gasp, Obi-Wan sat upright, his hands around his throat as if he expected the shadows to still be choking him. He was stunned, almost, by the sense of calm around him. Once he actually took the moment to drink in his surroundings, he realized he was... hardly in Naboo anymore. Disappointment and worry scrawled across his mind when he failed to spot anyone from the battle. He was less concerned with the fact that he'd woken up in the middle of a foreign street and more of the fact that the battlefield had just been swallowed by utter darkness... And creatures he'd never seen before.

"Hello, kupo!"

"Oh?" Obi-Wan looked around and found an entirely unfamiliar species staring back at him. "...Hello."

"Don't worry, kupo! I'm just here to help. You're in Traverse Town, kupo. I'm sorry to say, but... your world's been destroyed by the Darkness, kupo."

"Destroyed?!"

And so the moogle explained to the best of its abilities to a very rattled Obi-Wan. It had never heard of Sith or Jedi or the Force before, which struck him as odd, but he didn't think any more of it. It didn't matter. They both had a common enemy: the Darkness. It, however, instilled hope in him that people could still be out there and that their worlds could still be saved.

It was certainly no time to dwell on things that had been well out of his control, and if he could still save those who had been lost...

Have you read the rules & F.A.Q.s? I DON'T NEED NO STINKING RULES. Yes, I have. Thanks for reading!
