Let's Talk Turkey!

Nov 12, 2006 20:37

I know there are tons of ladies with culinary expertise and I am calling out to all of you. I have been given the honor of hosting Thanksgiving at our house this year and am in the midst of creating a menu. If any of you have any favorite recipes you could offer/suggest, I'd love to see them!

Thanks!

Tip: Put everything in microwavable serving dishes so you can easily heat it back up if you make the food ahead of time.

The key to a juicy turkey is lots of basting. I basted mine every 30 mins and the meat fell off the bone.

What sort of recipes were you interested in? Cheesy, fruity?

Great tips! Thanks. The one thing DH requested was that the turkey not be dry so I will definitely be basting my little heart out. I'm interested in all sorts of recipes. All I care about is if it tastes good!

I once used a Martha turkey recipe that called for covering the turkey with a cheesecloth soaked in a combo of olive oil and butter. I didn't need to baste too often and the turkey came out moist and delicious. My SIL makes a very good brined turkey - don't know the exact recipe, but I'm sure you can find a good one easily online ( ... )

What great recipes! Thanks so much. I went looking for that Martha turkey recipe with the cheesecloth and I think I found it. Looks good so I'm going to give it a try. I've never heard of using cheesecloth, but if it keeps the turkey moist, I'm willing to give it a shot.
