Face-to-face I become more friendly and jocular but also more distant, generally because it leaves me an out if I find out I'm just making a fool of myself. I'll make wry jokes and remarks that are not supposed to be laughed at. Worst case, I'll stay away from her lest she find out about my feelings. Think of the shame!

And yes, I am single. Who woulda thunk it? :P
