Aftermath - JP/FK

Little thing from me that wouldn't leave my head

John Paul closed the bedroom door and slid down it onto the floor.

Why did I go to the hospital? Was it fate? Was it God making sure I saw Kieron that way, reminding me just who he is? Was it an attempt by some higher power to stop me from having feelings for him?

A million questions were running through his head. He had answers to none of them. Seeing Kieron in the hospital dealing with Jake and Nancy has mesmerised him. It was like he saw a whole new person - not the same one who he had been living with for the past few weeks.

Earlier, in the pub, he had been so happy when Kieron had revealed his feelings. The feel of Kieron’s hand on his had set his heart alight and he would have given anything to be able to kiss him right there. But he didn't. He wanted to wait until they were alone and they could both really enjoy it.

But now things were so much different. The few minutes in the hospital room had changed everything. Kieron is a priest. He has a calling in life. He took a vow of abstinence. He commands respect wherever he goes in Hollyoaks. People are different around him.

All of which came flooding back to the front of the young man's mind when he saw Kieron standing over Charlie's bed baptising him. The kiss they had shared could have been put down to the fact they had both been drinking. But the same couldn't be said for today.

As he held his head in his hands John Paul began to sob. He was torn in two - he wanted Kieron to go so that there would be nothing to tempt either of them and to make sure John Paul wasn't the one responsible for breaking the priest's vow (despite the fact it was now obvious that they both wanted each other). But he wanted him to stay as well. Something about this man made John Paul happy. They got on and had a lot of fun together. It was nice to have some male company in the house. Someone he could talk to and just be himself around without any baggage or expectations.

But the conversation they had just had really done a number on him. Kieron had more or less admitted to wanting to sleep with him and how he was ready to throw away this sacred vow he had made just for him. There was a moment or two when he was convinced that Kieron would just slam him against the wall and have his way with him. John Paul was (sort of) glad that he hadn't. He wasn't sure that he would have been able to resist and that could have led to a whole new mess.

So now he sat alone in the room with the tears starting to fall from his eyes. He lifted his head and his sight found the little figure of Jesus that Carmel kept on one of the shelves. He stared at is unmoving form tormented by thoughts of his own dark haired angel.
