The Mummy to be activity centre.

I thought it had been a while so I would give a little update on how Munchkin is getting on.

Well if what I am currently feeling is to go by, my little one is learning Kung Fu in there.  I'm now at 31 weeks so munchkin has all the essential bits and pieces, they are busy growing, gaining strength and putting on weight, oh and using my womb as an activity centre.   Today I got a right good thump, which did surprise me a bit, but even if it sore, they still make me very happy indeed to be feeling them.   Each wriggle and squirm tells me they are OK in there.

So, down to single figures in the weeks to go..... nervous?  Yes.  Money is the biggest worry, but that is common.  We will be checking all our bills one by one to check we are getting the best deals, and, sadly, letting Elsa go as we cannot afford to keep her.  This weekend has mostly been spent going through old boxes from the move and shredding acres of old papers we don't need anymore (six carrier bags full!).  So much so that I thought I had broken the shredder, but it had gotten jammed and I managed to take it apart, clear the paper from between the teeth and now it is working again.  There is alot more to go.  I have the 27th and 28th September off so hope to finish those financial jobs by then and finish the clearing out and sorting of little house before I go on Mat Leave.

My father in law is here for a week from Portugal.  We all had dinner last night and it was lovely.  I recommend 'Home' based on HIgh Street in Arnold.  It is very... un-Arnold like.

Anyhow, this morning I weighed in at 15 stone 10lbs.  Not bad at all to have put on less than a stone so far.  The thing that pleases me is if I do put on a pound a week, I will still end up lighter than when I was at my heaviest at well over 17 stone.

We have a list of names, which I will post separately another time (the book is downstairs).  The way we did it was easy.  I went through the baby book and ticked the ones I liked.  Then, Steve went through the book and ticked the ones he liked.  The list consists of those names with two ticks.  The final choice will be when the baby is born as their looks and personality will have a distinct bearing on the final choices, but there have been no rows or major arguments about it, which is lovely.

And..... the 'ladies'.  Well they never cease to amaze me.  I remember a while back I said that if they got any bigger they would attack Tokyo?  Well if it wasn't for hubby bravely standing in the way they would have trounced Tokyo and been on the way to Manhattan by now.  They would be calling the National Guard!  I got some new bras in a larger cup size and they fit for a mere 2 DAYS before they were too small for me again!  Been through more letters than a Sesame Street omnibus (started at F, currently wearing a 'H' which is now too small!). And if what I read is correct they will continue to rampage their way through the lingerie alphabet when the milk comes in.  I wouldn't mind so much if getting these bras didn't cost me money I really need to spend on other things.  But, it has to be done.  Boo.

Finally, my midwife will be changing, I have no idea to who.  My current one is convinced I will be fine on the big day as my birth plan is as follows -

1) Let's see what happens eh?  You can't predict these things so there is no point trying.
2) Don't want to be on my back, or forced to be in one position (unless required by medical intervention).  Will want to move about and change position as needed.
3) Hubby is squeamish, best keep him away from the business end.
4) Baby straight on the tummy please.

Apparently the more complex the birth plan, the more likely the mother ends up being wound up when something inevitably goes against her wishes, which leads to stress, which can impair or even stop the labour.  In her experience the more conditions you place in the birth plan the more likely you will end up with an emergancy C-section.  No idea if this is actually true but I would not be at all surprised.

It is strange how much you can totally love someone you've never seen before.  I love this baby so much, and hubby is being a total angel.  He talks to my bump, and reads them stories (had Winnie the Pooh tonight) and when he thinks about munchkin he gets this wonderful look in his eyes.  We are now so looking forward to meeting this strange little person.
