What: A friendly game of poker
Where: Spike's shack in the residential district

Spike wasn't a hard man to please. He'd laid down on his tattered couch, watching the ceiling and keeping an ear tuned to his own mix of soulful music that filtered through the communicator. The end of a cigarette worked its way out on a makeshift ashtray sitting next to a half-empty glass of whiskey. It had taken a while, but he was moderately satisfied with what Nuadoria had offered him.
Stretching slowly, he sat up and grabbed the cards sitting out on the nearby table. He found the deck when he was pilfering the buildings by the docks for tools. At the time, it hadn't seemed practical, but it turned out to be one of the best ways to keep his sanity. The bounty hunter shuffled through them, more out of habit than in any kind of preparation for the game he'd offered to host. The cards were well worn and bent easily in his hands. If they hadn't already been, a hundred games of solitaire had broken them in since he got a hold of them.
He wasn't sure what his reasoning had been to invite the entire city to poker. Maybe he'd gotten bored enough to find out who the hell they were. Or maybe for the first time, he felt he had more than a passing curiosity about some of them. He didn't expect many to show either way; the dilapidated state of his house should scare off most of the interested. Spike had briefly considered moving somewhere that wasn't falling apart, but he figured any building that was still standing after a flood, terrorist attacks, and a meteor strike was worth keeping. And as pathetic as it was, he almost looked forward to the electricity going out or the plumbing freezing up just to give him something to work on.
But even that got old after he'd twisted his wrist the last time he tried to be social. He needed a new distraction. If nothing else, he could always raise the stakes and win a few favors. He never knew when one of them would finally come in handy.
