Nice day for a walk. Spike didn't bother to look up as he followed the persistent little blip on his map. Wouldn't make a difference when he could barely tell that the cigarette in his mouth was lit, let alone see ten feet in front of him. Mist must be getting thicker. With any luck, Faye had enough sense to be waiting inside instead of sitting out there for him to stumble over. Somewhere he could see a punch coming if she decided she was still angry over something that was over and done with. That didn't have anything to do with her.
Like it mattered.
It would be the quickest rescue mission he'd ever go on, that was for damn sure. Just pick her up and drag her back to the warehouse before she had a chance to bring him any more of a headache. Because that's one thing he wasn't going to underestimate about Faye Valentine.
Really, he would have been justified to leave her there after her last visit. There were things he still wanted to ask about that and he knew she wouldn't have the answers. Even if she did, she wouldn't tell him. And didn't it figure that she'd only forget the things that he cared about? Still, it was that nagging bit of leftover frustration that made him keep up his pace.
It'd been at least a year since she last disappeared. Spike had other problems now, and even Faye didn't register very high on his list. Who knew, with Julia around, they might manage to be civil. Anything was possible. He'd already decided that as long as she stayed where he could keep an eye on her, he didn't care what she had to say.
Spike didn't bother thinking about the other reason he was playing errand boy. It was a shame Jet wasn't still there; he was the one who usually insisted that they do the right thing. Whatever that was. Then Spike would have had someone else to blame.
Too bad.
