The first thing the Commodore would have seen upon entry was the familiar, enormous termite going scuttling down the hallway, clicking and squealing. Kasukabe had posted it at the doorway to stand guard, and the moment Smoker stepped in, it went skittering into the main laboratory area to alert its master of the guest ( ... )

"Yeah," he grunted as he took another pull off his cigars. Smoke plumed out of flared nostrils - none of this was exactly his line of expertise. Smoker understood the battlefield and he could map out the mechanics of sea navigation without ever looking in a book, but all of this science crap? The bells and whistles, the pins and needles - Smoker couldn't make heads or tails of it. He knew basic field medicine, but even then he usually deferred to his Sergeant Major for any injuries sustained in the line of duty.

"Don't even joke," Smoker growled out as cigar ash fell from the tips of his smokes, "-I'm really not in the mood." He eyed the equipment before rolling his shoulders back; his thick leather jacket came off and as he peeled it from an arm, marks from his trade blared across pale skin. One scar seemed a little more fresh than the others; it sliced up his collarbone and nearly touched the right half of his neck.

Of course, Kasukabe noticed all those scars. Commodore must have spent quite a lot of time in the thick of battle, huh? Which made him all the more eager to study the Commodore's workings! He wasn't going to botch this up, of course, but he certainly wasn't going the miss the opportunity to get himself some nice samples to study ( ... )

The jacket was placed neatly on the seat provided. Leather gloves soon followed, though the Commodore took a moment to really contemplate the situation - if he didn't wake up from this ( ... )
