May 7, 2005 5 pm Flight from Bangkok Leaving AsiaThere is so much to see in Thailand and given I only had 9 days to see it all, I think its only fair that I call my journey a scrapbook of impressions

I was strolling around and came upon your lj. Your pictures are awesome! How lucky of you to get to travel to so many different places. I've been to China and Hong Kong about 10 years ago and do not recall how lovely and breath taking it is. Thanks for giving me that mere moment of reminiscing when I was in Hong Kong through your pictures (although I went to China, I only visited the countryside). Shanghai looks amazing. Perhaps that might go onto my list of places to visit.
Oh, I don't recall a Popeye in HK? Maybe it just opened? I remember McDonalds though.
I really wish I spent more time in the country in China. The cities are nice but why travel all that way to see another big city. The Popeyes is actually at the new airport in HK.
"the cities are nice buy why travel all that way to see another big city"
that is true...however, sometimes it is nice to see how different another city can be when compared to the states. + If you're a big shopper, you got to love their shopping malls, especially the ones in HK or the "women's street" for really good bargains. Not to mention, all the sidewalk resturants and fishballs (of course these are all in HK.)
looky looky! pictures of your trip!! yay!!! thanks for sharing part of your travel journal with us...i should try to keep one when i go to europe this summer~ haven't been to shanghai, but after reading your post it's officially now on the list of "places to see." haven't talked to alf yet but looks like you guys had a blast!! so when are u going to be in vancouver next?
Its funny b/c Shanghai wasn't one of my favorite places. It was nice and modern but the shopping is cheaper in Hong Kong and its harder to get around in Shanghai. I say go to Vietnam or Thailand instead.
I'll probably be in Van next week for work. Looking forward to catching up with everyone.
Found you through hapadoll, hope you don't mind me commenting. I just got back from asia too and I love your pictures. Funny, I had the exact same experience trying to get up to Wat Doi Suthep! He wanted me to pay 400 baht since it was just me. And the puppies at Chautuchak are the cutest. :)
I'm so jealous that you went to Sapa. I really wanted to go to Vietnam but was a little scared to go alone.
That's funny with the Doi Suthep experience. Trying to find 8 people at low season can be tough. Hope you didn't pay the 400 baht.
You should go to Vietnam. I met a girl who traveled alone and had no problems at all. It is safe especially in the countryside. And you absolutely have to go to Sapa!
Nope, it ended up being 3 of us and we got him down to 100 bt pp. I guess that's one bad thing about visiting in low season, but it was also really nice not seeing so many farang out and about. I'm back home already so next trip will definitely be Vietnam and Laos.
Yes, I spent waay too much time at Siam Square (see the picture of the hair salon there). I've been to Chandarette a couple times since I've been back but I don't think you work during the day. Anyway, I'm sure I'll have more opportunities to practice my Sawadee-kap with you.
Saw Betty's baby on the weekend. He's such a cutie. =)
