Here's that end of year questionnaire thing that goes around every year.
1. What did you do in 2013 that you'd never done before?
I saw a musical at my sister's school. I'd never done that before. Also, I was on medication I'd never been on before.
2. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My dear friend Kris had a beautiful baby girl named Allison.
3. Did anyone close to you die?
Not this year.
4. What countries did you visit?
Heh. No.
5. What would you like to have in 2014 that you lacked in 2013?
More monies?
6. What date from 2013 will remain etched upon your memory?
March 15, 2013. The day I went to the ER for a kidney stone. Can you say ow?
7. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I didn't really have any achievements, to be honest.
8. What was your biggest failure?
Didn't have any failures either. Mostly because I didn't really do much.
9. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Did I?! There was the kidney stone, the stupid finger nail infection I'm still dealing with, and now there might be a sinus issue that was causing the jaw pain. This was a fun year! Except not.
10. What was the best thing you bought?
I didn't get any gadgets or anything this year, so I'm gonna go with my new pillow. For real, this thing has helped me sleep better. That's enough right there to make a thing the best.
11. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My sister. I'm constantly amazed she became a teacher. Sometimes the teenagers are annoying (even downright nasty at times), she has so much grading to do, and there are a lot of hours after work that she still works. She tells me it's worth it when kids are inspired by her. Or when a kid tells her he's going to college because of her. Teachers are underappreciated a lot, but she doesn't let it get her down.
Also,
kittycat22 got married! Not exactly a behavior, but it deserves mentioning and celebration. :)
12. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Politicians, bigots, Faux News idiots, Tea Party, etc.
13. Where did most of your money go?
Still paying off college loan. Also, the Nutrisystem Diet.
14. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Is it sad that I got really excited about tv shows and movies (especially Catching Fire)? And seeing shows like Wicked and Jersey Boys.
15. What song will always remind you of 2013?
"Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons will always make me think of 2013. Also, "Royals" by Lorde.
16. Compared to this time last year, are you
i. happier or sadder? Eh. Neither.
ii. thinner or fatter? Thinner, actually. Not by much, but it's something I am proud of! Thanks, Nutrisystem Diet.
iii. richer or poorer? Kinda the same.
17. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Reading.
18. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Getting sucked into Disney City Girl. Gah, that game takes over my life sometimes! Well, not really, but.
19. How will you be spending Christmas?
With family in Jersey.
20. Did you fall in love in 2013?
Nope.
21. How many one-night stands in this last year?
No.
22. What was your favorite TV program?
Fave new shows: Sleepy Hollow, Orphan Black, Breaking Bad (it was new to me!), The Carrie Diaries
Fave old shows: PLL, Nikita, White Collar
23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nope.
24. What was the best book you read?
I didn't read as much as I should have, so there isn't much to choose from. So I'll go with Angelfall by Susan Ee.
25. What was your greatest musical discovery?
MSMR. I first heard of them on PLL, and I really liked what I heard. Then their new album came out and I was a fan for life. Seriously, this album is so good. I like every song on it.
26. What did you want and get?
I don't know. New music, I guess?
27. What did you want and not get?
A vacation.
28. What was your favorite film of this year?
In theater: Catching Fire
Overall: Argo, Silver Linings Playbook, Pitch Perfect
I know some of those were from 2012, but I saw them in 2013. So they count!
29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 36. I didn't really do much.
30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Less weird medical issues!
31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2013?
Casual, but cool.
32. What/who kept you sane?
My sister and my friends.
33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Jennifer Lawrence is my favorite person right now. I want to hang out with her and be her best friend.
34. What political issue stirred you the most?
LGBT, reproductive, and womens' rights issues.
35. Who did you miss?
Always my mom. Of people still here, my friends. I miss them dearly and I hate that I keep missing out of big events with them.
36. Who was the best new person you met?
I haven't met any new people, I don't think? Can I count the infectious disease doctor who figured out what was wrong with me and finally getting me on the right medication?
37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2013.
I suck at profound things, so I'll just say, if you're not feeling great, go to the doctor and get good drugs.
38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
"Pick at my nails so they flake away
'Til I leave my hands in bloody pain." - "Salty Sweet" by MSMR
Is that too on the nose? Whatever. The finger thing was a huge part of my year, so I went for sorta literal!
