hey hey! neutron_x sent me here, although it looks like you're lj friends with my husband too loic. my most recent post is asking about where to stay in memphis and nashville and conan mentioned you might know something about that. just looking for what neighborhoods are good and which to avoid. we're traveling for a year, so we're gonna book the cheapest hotels we can find! but don't want to end up in a bad neighborhood or a boring one. feel free to check out my post! would love any advice!

I will try to look up specifics for you and post back, though I'll be out of town this weekend so I may not be able to in time...but honestly, if you're going to have a car my advice would be Bartlett if money and safety are your two big priorities, and Midtown if proximity to fun is slightly more important. Midtown is not unsafe per se, it just is adjacent to areas that are sketchy and has some bleedthrough crime (the Cooper Young area, which is supposedly where all the hipsters eat and shop and live, still experiences this sort of crime problem right now, but it's not really dangerous).
