The Dalai Lama is now a professor at my school. Why Emory before, uh, every other university on the planet, I'm not sure. But I am terribly excited to see him speak next year!

Aw, my father isn't dying.

He is, however, quitting smoking, and I think I will join him in that enterprise.

I quit smoking last night, and started NutriSystem this morning.

I haven't snapped yet, but I think I might in the next few hours.

I love my fellow man. Especially when he steals my digital camera out of my suitcase sometime between the baggage check and claim.

My first semester of graduate school is over. I am alive, although my brain is so fried right now that I'm not sure if I will be able to function normally for a while. I return to Pennsylvania tomorrow for three weeks. I look forward to the break, although I'm not really sure how the whole decompression process is going to go... my guess is that ( Read more... )

As it turns out, they're probably not going to kick me out of grad school. Not that I thought that this was a realistic possibility, but, you know, in my moments of crazy stressed-out panic I was totally convinced that I was a failure. Applying for the summer program in archaeology at the American Academy in Rome. Cause, seriously, who doesn't want to spend seven weeks in Italy looking at amazing art and digging in the dirt?
