You know that is something that really aggravates me and sort of surprises me about myself. When I didn't talk to regressives as much, I was more tolerant. The more I talk to the angrier and less tolerant I become. And, the scariest part is I think, I don't really think it's my bad to feel that way.
Oh yeah, I didn't think you were kidding at all. That's super exciting. What a great program for you! If it happens to come up in conversation you could inquire about the psych department, but certainly don't go to any trouble. Canada is cold... LOL
As far as the right to live thing...the tips in the activism training really were the last couple pieces of the puzzle for me...and oddly enough social psychology. It's well studied that fighting on the same level as the given topic at hand (cognitively, behaviorally, or emotionally) is what changes the opinion/attitude. So reframing...I think that's the key. Which I wonder if it will be more beneficial to swallow our anger to be able to attack most effectively or whether to more thoroughly tap into it in an intelligent way.
