well ryan, we're definately gonna miss you out here. the only thing that i know is that you cant just continue down a path just because its where you're at... sometimes, rather: all the time, you gotta be aware of where you really want your life to take you. i'm glad you're taking the time man... just dont forget about the great times with RHR happy new year bud
Dispite my "sour" experience with education choice, I've made some friends here that I will never forget. To be honest, with out the times I had with RHR, The Dynasty and others, I probably would have moved on much earlier.
ryan, things won't be the same without you here...you must come over for some more trivial pursuit if you do leave by february, i can't win if you aren't there
but what you are doing takes a lot of guts, and i really admire you for it -adam
Thanks Adam, I think I'm really going to need all the support I can get.
I just need some time for some soul-searching, as cliché as that is coming from a university student.
You'll definitely be seeing me before I make my way home. And who knows, I may just decide to come back next September. I just want to make sure it's where I want to be.
I want to start off by saying that you made the right decision. I'm sure at the end of eight months things will be a little clearer. Just don't put any pressure on yourself -- you don't need to figure everything out... people change careers all the time. Don't rule anything out, either. I mean, I was pretty surprised to find out that I was supposed to come back, even if it was to a different program. I know you don't know me very well, but if you ever need someone to talk to about it, I'm here... also on a leave of absence.
Cool. I did to go back to Kingston for the first week back, to meet with faculty advisors and to see everybody. I plan on visiting again before the semester is over, but for the most part I'm in Burlington.
Rock on. My dad is going in for surgery on the 30th, and my mom would like me back home on the 29th or so, just to make it more comfortable, so I'll be home soon.
You made the right decision Ryan. There is no point in being here if its not what you truly want. We will miss you so much, come visit us often! Keep us posted on how things are going.
Thanks Colleen, I don't think that you guys really understand how everyone's support is helping me. I'll be sure to visit before I leave, and definitely over the course of the year when I'm in Kingston. I plan on coming up for weekends every now and then!
I'm going to share a story about my family (because that's my thing, I talk about my family): my older brother left Waterloo after two years and did a bunch of soul searching before deciding to go into trades. He'll tell you that it was the hardest and the best decision he ever made. Regardless of whether or not you end up back here, kudos to you for taking the time to figure out your life. It seems that now everyone feels that if they don't go to uni and graduate in four years and go into the work force then they're not doing what's right, but people forget that if you're not enjoying yourself then it's not right for you and it's not worth it. Best of luck in figuring things out. Visit lots. While you're gone I'm going to choose to remember the RHR group shower whenever I think of you ;) (ah, the good times).
Well, hopefully your brother and I will share the same fortune. Either way it looks like I'll be living in Kingston next year. The only difference will be what I'm doing here. Thanks for making my time at Queen's special; there are many memories that I'll never forget.
