Sorry, I'm shameless. In seriousness, though, the threat dimension to catcalls is not something I've thought much about before. Why is that, I wonder? Because I'm naïve? Male? Gay? Or simply because I'm never the author and rarely the object of catcalls? I wonder too how many guys -- catcallers or innocents -- have paused to consider the social and gender inequality issues raised here. Thanks for educating at least one.
Also, I have to ask . . . what's the verdict on guys who pull out their cameras to take pictures of you at the intersection of 6th and Iowa?
