I wonder if you are aware this post is repeated but yeah to answer the question.
I think this is a great quote it really speaks the truth. It's telling you to go somewhere in life and don't let anyone or anything stop you. Be productive.
I believe this quote is pure truth and should be taken into great consideration by all. it applies to EVERYONE!

The post is repeated because his connection with livejournal has been fluxuating a lot recently, so his packets are becoming lost saying it posted the entry, so it continues to repost it until it recieved the packet saying it was posted.

YES. you definitely have to be conceited, because confidence is what will get you places, because it's all in your mind. you can only be what you can convince yourself you are. i'm definitely experiencing this first hand since i'm planning on starting an acting career after/during college, and what many people don't know is how difficult and rewardless an acting career can be, at least on the surface. if your confidence isn't like, a MILLION, you DIE. i mean really.

i think so far i've come along nicely, considering i've barely done shit and i still often feel as if i'm god's gift to mankind >=P

Of course it probably is supposed to have some good underlying message to it, but when people say "to get anywhere and be productive" you need to be conceited...what is that? No, you don't. You need to be educated, intelligent, not apathetic, respectable, and alert. Then well you get the gratification that you seem to be so desperately seeking. And maybe if your idea of productive is to have a good job and be rich, then you should slap yourself with this quote till the words are imprinted into your forehead, and perhaps you'll realize the apathy in the quote
