the day of silence

the Day of Silence is April 13th, which is pretty soon. for those of you who haven't heard of it yet, this is a pretty helpful site. basically, it involves high school students taking a vow of silence to protest lgbt (lesbian/gay/bi/transgender) bias. apparently it's been pretty successful, but i think it could definitely still use a lot more ( Read more... )

This sounds like a great idea. It's unfortunate that I attend a religious school who don't even touch upon this subject. They prefer not to talk about tolerance whereas they can just choose to ignore the issue all together. Damn shame.

i don't see how this would necessarily stop you from peaceful protest if it didn't interrupt class functions or anything. the only impediment i might see would be if something like that were specifically against school policy. in any case, i'm certainly not trying to encourage you to do anything that might get you in trouble if you really don't feel that strongly moved to do it
