Shadow Night annuls rapes

Seven rape cases have been reported in areas around Seoul, only they are all failed. The hero that has made all this possible, now dubbed the ‘Shadow Night’ comes into action every night with no one knowing his true identity.

The sexual assault on a woman on Wednesday in November 2008 and was reported by the media at the end of the week. Lee Soo Jung, 20, was found in a back alleyway in Dongdaemun. She appeared to have been mugged by a group of gang members, who were also found unconscious at the scene by a passer-by.

He stated, “I saw what had happened and assumed the worst, the woman was in a corner, in a state of shock and around her were the gang members, unmoving, sprawled across the floor.” Clearly any ordinary person would take it to be a rape case, however the victim reports that she had not been hurt in any way but was pushed into the corner by a ‘man that appeared out of nowhere’ and in five minutes, he had disappeared after effortlessly defeating the gang members.

Six other similar cases have been reported this month with the victims giving similar testimony. One victim believed that she had attacked the men herself; hence upon waking up, she could not remember a thing. A victim reported, “I could not see his face, but he came and went so quickly, it was as though he was a phantom. Like a shadow, he was there but wasn’t.” Locals have started calling him the ‘Shadow Night’ for his appearances have only come at night.

Almost like a Marvel comic, the Shadow Night has gained fans from all over Seoul, supporting him in his activities, even having a fan club set up. Many of such members have been spotted camping out in back alleyways just to catch a glimpse of this man.

Investigations have been going on about the whereabouts of the Shadow Night based on eyewitness accounts. If there is any information on this man, please contact the local police hotline.

“Isn’t that where we stay?” said Changmin looking at Junsu.

Junsu shrugged, “We’d better be careful then.”

Sub-plot (3): What do I think?

(Jaejoong)

Destination: Jung Hospital, Incheon

Oh, so they own this hospital too? I thought to myself looking at the sign for the first time.

Two knocks on the door and a little push.

“Hi Mrs. Jung, Yunho told me you wanted to speak with me?”

“Ah yes, Hello Jaejoong,” said the woman in the hospital bed. She wore pale green hospital clothing and had back horn-rimmed glasses, which she removed together with the book in her hands when she saw me. I only just realized how young she looked. “Please, sit,” she said as she gestured to the chair beside the bed.

“I didn’t know what to get you so I made some herbal broth for your health.”

“Thank you, that’s very thoughtful.”

And silence ensued. I swear in those moments of silence, her eyes were examining my every move, my entire self. It was, intimidating.

“So, Yunho said you wanted to-“

“Ah yes, that,” and she paused. She casually leaned back in the bed and crossed her legs. “How is it really like? Working for my son?”

Technically I don’t ‘work for him’, I mean, without me, the café would not have succeeded with their abysmal skills in the kitchen… “It’s good, I guess…”

“Really?” she sensed that I did not say everything that was in my heart.

“Honestly, the work is great and he is a terrific boss per se, but as a person…” and I stop. Had I said too much? Was I crossing borders? So like me, stupid Jaejoong who blurts out the first thing that comes to mind.

“Is a boor? Chauvinist? Wishy-washy?” She adds, completing my sentence. He tone was more curious, genuine interest rather than looking for a reason to hate me.

Again I answer truthfully, “All of the above I guess?” and I stop myself again, slapping my hand to my mouth. Dang. Smartass. “But he has his moments, of kindness which he tries hard to cover up.” I say, in hopes of redeeming myself.

A smile spreads across Mrs. Jung’s face. “Good. If he gives you too much trouble, just call me. Here’s my card.”

“Thanks. Is that it?” So I came all the way for that?

“Not exactly… Do you, like Yunho?”

Not the question I had thought I would get. Should I answer yes? Or what? Divert the question? Beads of cold sweat laced my eyebrows. “As a friend, he’s a great person…”

“But?”

“There’s nothing going on between us if that’s what you are thinking! We’re just good friends!”

“Whatever you say!” and she smiled again, as though she was enjoying a private joke.

I check my watch, “Sorry Mrs. Jung, I think I have to go now!” Although I have nothing on really.

“Call me Ae-Ra. Okay, I’ll see you around then?”

I nodded and advanced toward the door, “Thank you for entertaining me.” I say, in a hurry to leave.

“Oh and Jaejoong,” she called as I stepped out of the room. “Look after my Yunnie for me!”

That was the weirdest ten minutes of my life. Do I really like him?

~

(Jung Ae-Ra)

Cute guy. I smirk to myself, having just had a talk with Jaejoong. Who’s he trying to fool? The way he looks at Yun! Oh, but does Yunnie like him too?

Two knocks again. Could it be the nurse?

“Come in.” I call out and the door clicks open to reveal the familiar brunette from before. “Hello again Jaejoong.”

“What made you think that way?” he asked, head bowed, afraid to meet my critical eyes.

“Oh, nothing. Woman’s intuition,” and I tap my head.

“It’s not that… I just, I want to know who he really is. I heard that he had a fallout with his girlfriend and that was what caused him to be really unreceptive now. I want to help him I guess.”

If I ever see that bitch, I’ll strangle her. “And how will you do that?”

“No idea.” He shrugged and slumped into the chair by the bed. He sat for a while, quiet, thoughtful. I see what Yunho means by marbled statue, he actually looks pretty gorgeous. Well, as long as Yun thinks of him the same way, anything is possible.

“When I was young and foolish, I met Yunho’s dad and we had him out of wedlock.” I started, “They first few years of marriage were bliss and everything was great… Until my ex-husband’s business plummeted. He started becoming abusive, taking out his anger on me and sometime Yunho even so we separated.

“Yunho had to take on the responsibility of being the man of the house and was really supportive of me, even when I has diagnosed with leukemia. It was then I met my current husband, my old flame from high school and we got married. He donated his bone marrow to me you know. He loved Yunho like he was his own son. But Yunho never really opened up to him, probably due to the trauma inflicted by his own father.

“I never had to worry about him much. He’s pretty strong-willed. But, you are one of the few people he actually spoke to me about…” And that only happens when you are very close to him. “And you are right, he seems a bit more protective these days. I would like to see him laugh again.”

Jaejoong nodded, then sat in silence again, contemplating. Never have I met a guy like him… How like a girl! Contemplative and open, always speaking his mind, and yet at times like this, I don’t even know what he’s thinking about. Oh, it speaks! “Yunho is a really reliable person,” then he stood up and bent his top half of the body toward the ground in a ninety degrees bow. ‘Thank you, Mrs.-I mean, Ae-Ra, for bringing up Yunho! I will do my best to help him!”

Whatever happens in the future, let’s leave it be…

~

“HOOOLIDAY~” shouted Changmin as he raced through the café in sunglasses, batik shorts and an open t-shirt that exposed his chest.

“Guys, the car is here.” Yoochun called out as he pushed open the door of the café.

It was not a car. It was a limousine. A beautiful, long white limousine that was almost the length of a regular bus. “Damn, that’s a 10 Pass Jaguar XF!” Junsu ran up to the limousine and lowered his sunglasses, examining the exterior of the vehicle carefully.

The automatic door of the car swung open to reveal a sleek car interior of black leather seats and carpeted floor. A bar was placed at the front of the limousine, just behind the driver’s seat which was blocked off to provide privacy for the passengers. The limousine’s top was lined with barely visible speakers to provide excellent surround sound for the large screen television (the screen can be pulled down) just beside the bar and music system.

“Awesome!” shouted Junsu as he dived head fist into the car and then proceeded to lie on the soft carpeted floor spread-eagled, moving his arms and legs as if he was making snow angels. At this point, Yoochun walked forward, aiming to jump on top of Junsu and join in the ‘fun’ but Changmin, in all youth and vigor (well, not much really compared to the others but younger at heart :P) pulled back his Hyung by the neck of his shirt and went in before Yoochun, kicking Junsu off the floor. Of course, Yunho and Jaejoong laughed amongst themselves as they followed a pouting Yoochun into the car.

~

“Although we will be sleeping very comfortably at night, my holiday consultant has suggested that we rough it out in the morning, like catch fish of our own to make sashimi or barbeque…” said Yoochun as the led the way up the marbled staircase leading to the villa. What was a villa to him would be a mansion to others. The exterior of the house was white, with numerous glass windows that were tinted slightly, enough to see out but not in. The place had a swimming pool and a tennis court in the backyard and a basketball court in front and the building itself as three storeys high with a basement as a wine cellar.

“That’s great.” Smiled Junsu and he let out a sigh of happiness, “enjoying the fruits of our labour.”

After they relieved themselves of their load and changed into less smart-casual attire (save for Changmin who was already dressed to the occasion), namely wife-beaters, t-shirts and shorts, the gang started on their hiking trip to the nearby waterfall.

“Legend has it that you will meet your true love here,” said Jaejoong as he read off the signboard at the site of the waterfall. He looked past the sign at the waterfall, its water foamy white as they crashed into the rock pool at the bottom. At the very top of the waterfall where no water was disturbed by the rocks was where the water smooth and only where the water in the pool was three meters from the foot of the waterfall was the water crystal clear and completely transparent to fish at the bottom.

“Fish~ Sashimi~ Codfish, Tuna, Swordfish, Trout~ I love you AAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLL!” sang Changmin. He ran into the relatively deep pool and did a cannon ball jump, scaring all the fishes away.

“Yah! Changmin-ah! If you keep this up we won’t have any thing to eat for dinner!” Yunho shouted at the boy, then threw a fishing net at his head which Changmin skillfully managed to dodge in time.

Jaejoong pulled off his thin white wife-beater and jumped into water as well, joining Changmin in his ‘fish-catching expedition’. Yunho’s eyes immediately widened at the sight of Jaejoong’s chiseled chest. His abdominals were perfectly defined, making him all the more ‘statueresque’ (as opposed to picturesque). Six, no-EIGHT pec. Wow. It’s even better than mine… (*invisible hand slaps Yunho’s face*) Idiot! Pay attention! Yunho turned away from the gorgeous figure to face his cousin. And he could swear he saw a knowing smirk…

I'll make notes on the next one! Read on:)
