Unfortunately, it didn't get put through as there wasn't much time left. Seriously though, what does define a bad religion; in all honesty ( Read more... )

In order to have bad religion, there has to be good religion. A religion being made up primarily of texts, rites/rituals, and the followers that make up that religion. I like to use the utilitarian "harm principle" to determine whether or not something so abstract can be considered good or bad ( ... )

Yes. There is religion and there are people who utilize it and God for bad purposes, namely for their own profit.

Normally I would not respond to something saying "I totally agree" just for the sake of being heard, but I have my own two-pence to add. I find no flaw in anything you have said, except maybe the question you were going to ask. A better question might have been "Who defines what is good or bad?” We are all human beings so how can one person claim something is absolute? Personally I believe good and bad is all about perception. At the same time something in me cries out "Is there not a core that is good? Is there not something in every person that tells them when they have done a wrong?” Or is that how we were raised, how living in whatever society we live in shaped us? I feel like I am wandering in a maze, with all the answers at the end, and if I could only think clearly enough I could find my way to them. With uncertainty about my own biases as the perpetual Minotaur. Oops, I’ve managed to make this about me again... sorry. :)
