Anyone feel this way?

I am sure this has popped up in a post before but here I go. Anyone feel that we are moving into a Brave New World Society faster than we should be? Or that over reliance on technology has handicapped us as potential thinkers and scholars? I've people watched and have seen stupidity and a lack in common knowledge that I am becoming rather fearful ( Read more... )

Quick post before I got to go...

Woman locked in car calls 911

KISSIMMEE, FL - A woman locked inside her car called 911 because she did not know how to get out!

A woman locked in her car at a Walgreen’s near Poinciana, Florida called a 911 dispatcher after she realized she had locked herself in her own car.

“My car will not start. I’m locked inside my car,” the woman explained. “Nothing electrical works. And it’s getting very hot in here, and I’m not feeling well.”

A presumed electrical failure killed the car, leaving the woman unclear on how to open the windows or unlock her own door.

The dispatcher asked if the woman could manually pull the lock up. “Um, I’m sorry,” the embarrassed woman said after easily unlocking the door.

I think this ^ is what you're talking about, right? d:

Technology, or our reliance on it can serve as a crutch. It prevents us from developing critical thinking skills and common sense... Yeah. Definitely. K, gone.

Being 47, and being told all my life... to go look it up.. when I didn't know how to spell a word, this gave me knowledge that made writing easy. I have gone from the old ways into the new. Now as one said, spell check can only do so much, and I find I cannot spell well anymore.. I have allowed technology to make me lazy. I also witnessed technology make my children lazy. Video sports games have taken the place of outdoor sports and created a very lazy younger generation. There is also much less person to person contact with being connected 24/7 by net. Technology is a wonderful thing, we just haven't learned to use it to our true benefit.
