Where does one pick up after 5 months?

Doesn't matter, not all that much has changed, except for a new setting, new institutional challenges, new housing arrangements (whereby one housemate ought be institutionalized), new hobbies, new activities, new people, places and things.

I found a place to live that's not the university residences. Hooray! I move within a week, and it's not a within a week too soon.

Things are beginning to settle into some form of pattern here, with a few major adjustments still to be made.

I've been taking to working out 3-4 weeks at a nearby football ground. The surface is far too pocked and battered to have a football game on, but it suits me as a running track of sorts and gives me adequate room to stretch and do other ( Read more... )

Often, when I was younger and would get into a somber mood, I would hole myself up in my room and listen to The Cure. This, of course, is one of the most cliched things imaginable to do. As time passed, I grew to appreciate The Cure's music more and more, but it didn't depress me. I got my student visa this morning, so I'm basically in a position where I need to finish my medical stuff here, and buy a plane ticket. That's about the extent of preparation for the next few weeks. Not too shabby.

As is no surprise thanks to this snappy avatar, I'm a big fan of the recently-late Patrick McGoohan's The Prisoner.
