Damn Spam!

I came THIS CLOSE to falling into an evil Spam trap this morning! I received an email from "Paypal," which Outlook had labeled as "suspected spam" but I opened it anyway even though I haven't used Paypal to either send or receive money very recently ( Read more... )

I must be lucky because this is the first piece of spam that I have ever received that appeared to be from Ebay/Half/PayPal or any other similar business. Most of the spam I get is obvious junk, like those offers to increase my penis size :p

Ha! Well, if nothing else at least junk email is amusing at times.

I get a lot of spam with amusing titles. I should start making note of them and posting them here. :)

I just don't understand how spam works. No one would bother if they weren't making money off of it, but how do you make money off of this sort of thing?

Thank goodness you caught yourself before clicking the link!

Good point! I never really thought about how spam-senders profit from it. Maybe it has something to do with getting paid for advertising if they can get people to click from an email, leading people to a website belonging to another business? Perhaps? Maybe? Well, no matter what their motive, I hate them all!

I hate spam! I've been getting a lot of fake emails from Washington Mutual asking me to send my account # to them. I don't even have an account with them, but I wonder how many people who are maybe older or less informed about spam scams fall for it. Lately I've been getting really gross spam at least 10 times a day about penis drugs to make me ejaculate more! Yuck!

Lucky you noticed in time! I don't get much spam, but that's because I watch very, very carefully where I leave my email address...

This one's pretty stupid, though. If anything, paying 280 USD for a computer game, be it Myst III ;), is just so overboard it would've made me suspicious...
